Well I'm sorry I haven't been around for a bit. I've been a bit busy trying to finnish up the car install a new engine in the 7 and having a little bit of a hassle with a few personal matters. But I thought I'd quickly post a pic of some of the interior that I have re trimmed. I took this as I was doing a quick test fit there are a few more bits done than appear in the pic but I'm quite happy so far.

Ohhhh! Looks good.

But, White binnacle ????

That's gonna cause a few good reflections in the windscreen. I think Lotus started out with a few light coloured binnacle colours but then decided to go dark to cut down all the nasty reflections they caused.

Yeah (didn't want to say really as it's such a class job). :(

My S3 had a magnolia binnacle and on a sunny day (or with a

car behind at night) the vision was absolutely appaling. Later cars

had the top of the dash and the binnacle in black, which is much

safer.

At the end of the day though, i drove a car for five years like that,

and it's had a binnacle that colour for the last 22 years, so i guess

you just live with it!!!

:(

Sorry to be the one to say it, but it's better said now than you get everything back together and then get annoyed with the car when you can't see out the windscreen. There's nothing worse than doing something like this and making such a top job of it as you have, only to think "Sh$t !!! I wish I'd done......"

I once had the idea to mount a digital speedo with red LEDs to the top of the dashboard to imitate a HUD... :(

Oh well you can't have everything. I'll see if it is just to bad to live with and if I am really having difficulty seeing anything I'll redo it in Black. As I have done it myself its not like it's going to cost me a fortune to re trim it.

Here's the latest pic.

I am working on the seats at the moment but am having a bit of a problem with the sewing machine so I may have to call in an engineer.HO HUM
