Impulse sale.

Well, I can't believe I'm doing this, but . . .

A friend just called me with the opportunity to buy another car that I always wanted at a price I can't refuse.

So, to make a long story short, I am offering as an impulse sale my red S1. I'd prefer to keep it for another 20 years or so, but in this case it's worth it.

You all know the car by now. Here's a reminder:

I am making a thread about it here to give all of you (and your friends) first opportunity. (If I am breaking any forum rules by posting a car for sale, then I apologize, Mods please delete!)

Asking USD $15,500. I believe this price is appropriate for the car's condition alone, disregarding any added value or interest from show provenance, service history, and having been autographed by the G-man himself.

It is more of a well-maintained original than a restored car. I know every inch of it, have recently renewed just about everything of consequence, and would not hesitate to drive it anywhere.

Disclaimers: NO, I am not getting out of Esprits, my Esprit addiction is not wavering, the white car will never be for sale, and if I miss this purchase opportunity, then I'll keep the red S1!

Well, you've certainly piqued my curiosity on what this new dream car might be! If you do get it, certainly the new owner of your red S1 will be getting a very sweet car.

Also, just out of curiosity, where did Giorgetto sign your car? I know John DeLorean would sign the glovebox covers of his cars.

I asked him to sign it here:

I know a glove box lid would be cooler, but the Esprit's glove box pretty much just faces the sun (not to mention mine is black like the marker! ). Also, where the signature is, it is protected from wear and tear from use, cleaning, sunlight, etc.; and the car can be repainted and the interior retrimmed without harming the signature.

Always thought both of your S1's are super looking cars. Somebody is going to pick up a great car. It also looks priced to sell quite quickly.

I even already have a possible buyer lined up for the red car. Good news is I get to keep the red car!

You may be disappointed that your new car deal fell through but i get the feeling a bit down the line you would have been kicking yourself if you had sold the red car!

Hang on to it man ..... if you must have another car, sell the wife, kids, kidney, whatever BUT DONT SELL THE RED ONE !!!!!

Tony, understand your quandry having 2 S1's - but that red car is special, and the White one is, well a White one! Keep 'em both!

Having the same problem at the moment; I want to buy a Europa S2. Got the Elise, Got 2 S1's Esprits. Why 2? Blue one was the second purchase and came up cheap. The Yellow one I love as it was my first, it's so original, and it's a bloody one. The Blue one I don't feel for as much - but it's a much better car - it's mint. I don't feel right parting with either. Normally good at making decisions when it comes to cars ( do it for a living ), but the rule book gets thrown out when it comes to old Lotus's.

Selling? Don't do it!!!
