Question

i knew i would find something else!!

ok two parts broken today.

the first is an amazement to me, i decided to take off the alternator rotor and clean and paint it, also clean the alternator casing properly and re-coat. Imagine my surprise when i find a washer cut in half stuck into the guide/key slot in the shaft!!!!!!! the original part is missing so i cant fit the rotor back on now.

also the back of the alternator is melted all the plastic casing looks burned and melted.

the other problem for which i really need to fix is part of the carburettor butterfly valve arm system, it goes inbetween both ports and has a sprin and arm on it, it then fixes around the arm itself. I AM DESPERATE TO REPLACE THESE PARTS CAN ANYONE HELP ME PLEASE?

the alternator key slot: i need a key piece for this.

The key for the Alternator should be easy to get hold of.

If you look up woodruff key on T'interweb you will find plenty of UK companies selling them. There are plenty of dimensions on these sites so you can measure what you have and find ia key to fit.

Just had a look in the RS catalouge and they sell complete kits for about

Simon,

In regards to the alternator. prior to modding my '85 turbo w/ a much different alternator, I found that alternators off of Audi 5000 and 100 models were a direct bolt in swap @ least here in the states.

Also, I found adjustable voltage regulators for that style Bosch alternator. This would allow those of you who may be running different battery chemistrys, to adjust the voltage to suit.

As far as the linkage piece on the carb, it seems like SW lotus really knows how to conduct business! Those pieces are rather fragile. I spent a long time w/ mine to get the accel. pump working. Not much fun to do when the carbs are in the car!! be sure to lube the levers on those, as mine stuck from corrosion.

Hope this is helpful.

Cheers, Lee
