New radiator with PNM triple core
New clutch by PNM Engineering
This year I’ve replaced spark plugs, fuel filter, coil packs, vacuum hoses.
New alternator June 2016

Overall the exterior is in excellent condition, there are stone chips and small marks but generally very presentable. I am being over critical here and people do tell me it’s the best example they’ve seen but I am just being honest.
The alloys are in excellent condition and any kerbing in the past have always been repaired straight away. They have no kerbing at present but one or two minor marks which are hardly noticeable (again being very critical).
Interior is immaculate and hardly any wear to driver’s seat. Passenger seat is hardly used. Carpets are perfect and have always been protected with over mats. Side sill carpets also perfect. The engine bay is very clean and plenum cover which are still original in excellent condition. Boot area is near perfect as too are the carpets.
Front boot area in excellent condition as too is the carpet (no spare wheel on a GT).
Headlights are still original in very good condition

Blimey, never thought I'd witness that day. 'Tis a lovely car indeed, the next owner won;t have to do much except give it the occasional wash.

Hi, It is me unfortunately. I am only selling because my car obsession constantly causes arguments with the other half and I currently have 4 cars at the moment and they are all for sale. Depends on which sells first, I have to decide on whether I manage to keep any. Sadly my Evora is up for sale too (it will be on here soon as I get the wrap removed). I think I might go down the leasing route so I am tied into a 2-3 year deal and can't keep looking at buying my next car!

I know people joke (or not) about their cars are the most important things in life (even more than wife and kids) but it's not in my case. Life must go on and I want to grow old with my beloved wife.

Regards,

David

Hi Barry,

It's a tough one. The A5 can go easily even if I have to really drop the price of flog it at one of those places that buys your car. This leaves the other 3. My wife won't drive the Evora even though she's on the insurance, so we need to keep the A6 or replace it with something as equally as practical if I sell that. The Esprit I've hardly used over last couple of years, I did 200 miles in it last year. This might be because I have the Evora? The Esprit is in the garage and Evora is in front of garage under the carport. 99 times out of 100, it's easier and less hassle to jump in the Evora than it is the Esprit. Also the Evora is more practical with rear seats and smaller for car parks, so maybe it's a reason for keeping the Evora?

Another thing to add to the equation, is that my daughter is learning to drive. Not sure when she'll pass but adding a 5th car to family adds further pressure. So for now, I concentrate on getting rid of the A5!

I for one Dave would concentrate on getting rid of the A5 too. Having one Ooodi is bad enough, but two. Wow. That's really bad!

I think things change as the kids get older. I always had sensible family cars, head over heart for years, as taxi-ing kids and kit all over the country for sports and stuff. But once my daughter left for Uni I started looking around for me. Bit older, mortgage paid off, more free time. The Evora has turned into a nice hobby and monthly LEGS runs are always a nice blast as EVERYONE is just totally sound and really nice. My wife's not interested in cars, been in the Evora twice only in 15 months. It's usually just me and the open road with no set direction just North to the open, quiet roads around the mountains, munroes and Lochs etc. Maggie has loads of stuff she does anyway at the weekends, so all good there and the secret to a long and happy marriage is having the space for what you both want to do, either seprately or together. As almost empty nesters that a lot easier now for us.

To be honest, as Barry hints at, I'd rather have my Lotus than a mistress - Maggie knows that too! - so all is good. The Lotus is also cheaper than a Mistress, has no expectations, makes no demands and doesn't critiscise if the drive is to short or lacking in imagination! Also, unlike a younger mistress she does not worry about a ticking clock and has no desire to fill the back seats. Hence why I have an Evora 2+0!

I hope which ever way you go, whichever car(s) you keep - apart from the Ooodi -, you guys stay happy. If I had the cash right now. I'd bite your bloody hand off for that Esprit. Unlike the Evora, they ain't making any more and it is iconic and beautiful mate. Good luck and all the best.

Alcohol. Sex. Tobacco. Drugs. Chocolate.  Meh! NOTHING in this world is as addictive as an Evora +0. It's not for babies!

The first guy to ride a bull for fun, was a true hero. The second man to follow him was truly nuts!

@superdavelotus I understand where you're coming from. I regularly feel that I should scale back and simplify (I'm one car behind you though), spend less time obsessing over my cars and more time living life. I also remember fondly the time when I just had one car to worry about.

Since I got my Jag I've also not done many miles in the Esprits, and our V8 gets little to no use whatsoever - I think we also do like 200 miles a year in it (if that).

From a strategic perspective it might be best to just keep it as its appreciation will outstrip what it costs you over time, especially compared to the other cars you have. Maybe best go with heart in this case.... if that means the Evora, or even no cars at all, so be it.

Hoping for a good outcome for you! Best of luck.

Edit:

Alternative solution: The V8 or Evora, and a Toyota Aygo as a daily. It's a hateful little bastard of a car - a tin can, but cheap insurance, and a good car to learn to drive with.

Hi Vanya,

That's an excellent piece of advise. I keep forgetting that the Esprit is still on the way and the investment is much better than any bank interest rate! I think it will take some time to sell this as it's at the high end of the scale. So it will be with me for some time yet.

I'll flog the A5 first even if I have to sell to one of these chiselling site that rip you off!

The small car I buy for my daughter, I suppose I could use from time to time?

Damn you Vanya - had just started negotiations with my wife re the Esprit - arguing it would be an appreciating asset and so better as a long term investment than the ISA the cash is sitting in. I'm at the "rolling of the eyes stage" but that's not a NO!

And as it's a +0 it's also not for BABIES for so just right. It would look lovely next to my Evora. Hmmm, need to see what I can bribe Maggie with....

Dave

I understand your issues. I sold my black dry sump Esprit a couple of months ago simply because I had 6 cars and, combined, they started to weigh heavily (MOTs, servicing, something going wrong etc etc). I got a fair price but more importantly I felt I'd redressed the balance a bit and taken back control.

Good luck with the sale

I have interest in the Evora already! Not how I'd planned but lets see what happens...

The cost of running these cars does take it's toll. Every month it's either an MOT, insurance, tax or service and that's when everything running OK!

I also went onto 'we buy' and my Audi has come up at £1500 less than what I've advertised it for which surprises me because their offers are usually much lower than that. I'll see what the other half wants me to do tonight.

When you actually go to 'We Buy'... they count the number of stone chips on the front of the car and deduct that from your offer price. I sold a fiesta with 6k miles to them and they knocked off £250 from their offer based on 5 incredibly small stone chips. You might think 5 in total is small but their offer seems to be based on literally 'as new' condition. I guess they think as you go to them they've nothing to lose and they might get somebody desperate to sell or can't be bothered. Be warned.

@superdavelotus: Out of curiosity, of the cars you have, which have you owned the longest? I'm guessing it's the Esprit. Wouldn't selling it feel like selling your soul? I'd be devastated if I ever let go of my Turbo SE....

The referendum was clear. British is good and stays. Oooodi is European and goes. Can't see any further discussion or deliberation as being required ;)

Hi Vanya,

I've owned the V8 for just over 11 years and it will be hard to part with it.

I've had two offers in for Audis which are not bad, so I am going to talk it through with missus tonight as she told me to hang fire.

I have a guy wanting to come and view the Evora next week but I can put that off if need be. I can't believe how quick I got interest, I thought the Brexit would put buyers off? I had put A6 BiTDi up for £22995 and got a silly offer from a trader of £19750. I've just put that through We Buy Any Car and got a valuation of £21K! There are no stone chips or scratches whatsoever, so I know they can't knock me down. The A5 however does have a few, so I've rung round a few local garages and got an offer similar.

I've been growing a pair for past 15 years of Esprit ownership but now they hurt!

I said that as soon as we voted out. I should stick to my words. Lets see what the boss says...

Do NOT part with the Esprit..... its irreplaceable.

Especially the standard yours is at. To get a V8 esprit to that standard has cost you an arm and a leg - should you wish to find another it will cost you the other arm and leg.

Evora's are plentiful - always loads in the classifieds  - although Values don't look to budge too much.

I'm not even going to mention the Audi
