French Frie 401
yep, but those are welded together and correctly angled and spaced to fit the piggy nose exhaust !
silverfrost 1,390
I know this may sound like a stupid question, but why are track noise levels so fussy ! i mean the noise of level allowed at some is just way to low. ? Why ? is it health and safety, to stop noise pollution ? I just can not understand why it is so strict, its a racing track for gods sake ? 1 Quote A

French Frie 401
here at least, it just because neighbours, who often built their house after the track was built, are making trouble once installed ... and growing autophobia too !

Popular Post LF1 564
Personally I feel really sorry for all these people that moved into new housing estates only to find race circuits like Brands Hatch suddenly being built next door. Obviously if they moved into a new housing estate knowing there was a long established and historical race track next door I'd have less sympathy for them. 6 Quote Lotus Register - https://www.lotusregister.com

Gashead1105 323
Standard exhaust is fine in the UK - I make this blanket assertion on the basis that I had no problems at Bedford, which is notorious for its NIMBY imposed noise limit.
French Frie 401
some tracks are 95Db limited here ...

My 1000 mile old standard exhaust failed a noise test at brands hatch. Static was 98db after lunch it had risen to 101db. So sadly the standard exhaust won't pass noise test if you are using the full power/ rev range available. Well mine doesn't!!!
LF1 564
Brands hatch is the New Bedford. 88db drive by on some sessions now. I got thrown off in the caterham the other day which measures 92 static. Quote Lotus Register - https://www.lotusregister.com
Dani 39
Thanks for the info guys. I usually drive in Jarama circuit and there is a peculiar rule. There is noise restriction but only in a sector of the track (which is the nearest to the close neighbourhood). And is very frustating to speed down when you are doing a fast lap!! By the way: eventhough that disadvantadge you should come to Jarama. Is a great circuit !!!

Ok, well I haven't done Brands for a while and am not going to do so in the near future. However I thought the 360 cup ran the lotus sports exhaust, not the pig snout that is on the standard V6? For the record my last static tests at Snetterton were 93 and 96 db respectively so I would be fine on then above. Done just over 4k miles. You are going to have a problem Dave as there aren't any after market alternatives that are quieter than OE so far as I am aware.

I am in the process of sorting a track friendly exhaust for my car as all the currently available offering miss the mark for me
Chrisc 46
The Komotec with the valve closed is very quiet for what it is. Perfect for noise restricted tracks, but you may have to ease off past certain points of the track possibly. Even valve open its not too bad actually, certainly seems the best aftermarket exhaust for track so far.
RedViper 84
My 2bular track system is 107 db on its own, 98/99 with stainless add ons.. I know Jim was going to make a silenced Manifold to backbox section too for someone, not sure if he has had time to do it yet. there is the universal helping hand of....... whats the redline mate..... 6000....... several db less. 2 hours ago, Gashead1105 said: Ok, well I haven't done Brands for a while and am not going to do so in the near future. What revs was that at please? When you are on a lot day they know the redlines/limits of the cars concerned. My tests where all done at 5250rpm. Using a lower rpm is only going to work for so long as once out on circuit if your car is too loud they will find you!!!
Gashead1105 323
96 db was at 5,200 with the valve open 93 db was at a little less, still with the valve open.

The 2bular track seems to plateau off with db after about 4500 revs anyway. Something to do with how it's built.... Seriouslylotus 450
Mine was 98 at 5500 with valve open before lunch (Pig snout switchable exhaust) and 101 at 5250 with valve open after lunch.(Pig snout switchable exhaust) I then fitted the Lotus sport exhaust as supplied with the car and that was 98 at 5250 (new exhaust, never used before) Edited September 2, 2016 by Seriouslylotus . So if in doubt Rev it higher ?
