silverfrost 1,386 Report post Posted September 23, 2016 My favorite colour for an S2. Shame about the sunroof though. ! It looks like someone will get a lovely car. Very intrested to see how much this will go for on ebay as have not seen an s2 for ages on flea bay. Quote A
silverfrost 1,386 Report post Posted September 23, 2016 Bloody hell ! Like buses, just looked on fleabay and they also have a S2 jps 25 k number 33, Really pleased this one came up as it shows that other seller that wanted 20k for a s2 jps rolling shell and boxes of bits how far off the line he was. Cant do links just search lotus esprit in classic cars on ebay. 1 Quote A

megalomaniac 18 Report post Posted September 23, 2016 I'm no expert (far from it...), but isn't that an S3 bumper on the front of that gold S2?
silverfrost 1,386 Report post Posted September 23, 2016 Dan, yes s3 font bumper fitted, also after market washer jets fitted in bumper and after market sun roof, although age related roof etc. Fantastic looking car ! This car will go for very high money i think, Quote A

I won't try again as three times will just make me look like a complete numb nuts!!? Don't worry about it. It looks like a pretty good car and I'm now gutted that I missed one 4 years ago that was up for £5k on Auto Trader I like the JPS as it reminds me of the Scalextric car I had when I was a kid. I raced it so much it caught fire in the end. If you notice in the picture below the car has broken down and the mechanic has got the spanner out - bit like my Esprit hahaha 1 Quote Lotus Esprit [meaning] a 1:1 scale Airfix kit with a propensity to catch fire
LOTUSMAN33 588 2 Vehicles Report post Posted September 23, 2016 Paul It would not be a Lotus if the owner never visited his toolbox, all part of the fun and we all love them for it....? It does look nice even though the sunroof would have to go, I sold one for £5k and the other for £8k so just shows the market has moved like you say. Tempted myself but it is another trader jumping on the boom which puts me off as like talking to the owner or a specialist which is fine. I had that Scalextrix car along with a 6 wheeled one when young, wish I still had it though... Dave ? Quote Do or do not, there is no try!
Paul Coleman 368 Report post Posted September 23, 2016 Ah yes the dreaded after market sunroof. SJ Sportscars now sell just the roof section to get rid of these and he's probably doing a roaring trade hahaha I remember the 6 wheeled Elf Tyrrell. Back in the 70s I sold all my cars and track for £10 and I had miles of it Quote Lotus Esprit [meaning] a 1:1 scale Airfix kit with a propensity to catch fire
Lotusfab 2,132 Report post Posted September 23, 2016 Nice car and I like the colour! Wonder if the Ski racks will fit?
silverfrost 1,386 Report post Posted September 24, 2016 Never mind ski racks Fabian, save that for your next project, Get this one and works your way up the series. Always time to do the dry sump thing afterwards Quote A

silverfrost 1,386 Report post Posted September 24, 2016 You beat me to it Trevor ! Yes its gone, I presume someone has crossed their palm with a lot more silver than they ever expected and found it to tempting to resist. ! To be honest i do not blame the new buyer though as it was a beutiful car and all the right colours including trim. Just very annoying for the bidders, It could even be the fact that the actual seller has removed it to keep the car and restore it and then sell it on maybe. ? Either way its a beutiful s2 and i hope someone on here bags it. 1 Quote A
Lotusfab 2,132 Report post Posted September 24, 2016 Another car for the dealers? Hope not! Will have to same the Olins for the Turbo car☹️☹️??☹️
silverfrost 1,386 Report post Posted September 24, 2016 Take it as a sign Fabian.! your next car is obviously the Turbo esprit then. Very lucky who ever did get this car though and yes sad if it is the dealers as it would of been fantastic to see a project thread on this car coming back to its former glory if it was one of the members on here. If its the dealers its going be 30k plus easy next time we see it again imo 1 Quote A
GTK 591 Report post Posted September 25, 2016 That JPS is easily spotted by the reg and the non standard interior. Bit of a pity, I think the interior is the real selling point for a JPS. Found it here: http://www.classicandperformancecar.com/lotus/esprit Given it's a buyers guide and that they mention interior retrims due to wear, they really should have pointed out that this one's not suitable as a reference. LOTUSMAN33 588 2 Vehicles Report post Posted September 25, 2016 Well spotted George, I was very tempted by this car and noticed the same from the poor eBay pics this morning, with that and the 80's roof along with extra switches fitted it will make an expensive car to put right. Seems this one had chassis repairs as well. It is still a nice car just over priced for what it currently is. Retrimmed interior in 033 Original JPS interior The interior pics on eBay look different again with what looks like just beige velour wrapped around the centre console and door trims? I know someone was trying to source the original material on here once but not sure how they got on? GTK 591 Report post Posted September 25, 2016 The material is wrong and it wouldn't be so obvious if the seats, door card inserts and centre tunnel pad were trimmed as per factory. The gold brightwork trim is wrong too isn't it? I wouldn't mind the switch in the lower dash it looks like it's period and been done nicely. Probably for aftermarket fans? The proper material could be the big hurdle though Dave, you're very correct Plenty of watchers, is anyone on here interested or going to view?
