farook 39
Thanks MarytnB - it makes sense. But I think it was Freejack that was asking the question...
Hangar 111 302
Indeed. I think there was a bit of confusion going on in the discussion of the location of the pre-cooler for the chargecooler, rather than the chargecooler core itself. Dave
NW76 499
Quick Update after a day at Spa Francorchamps: the car handles phenomenal now with the Oehlins Suspension and almost 2 degree of camber. The brakes are mighty impressive. The power: I now can keep up with a 458 Speciale eye to eye even at speeds north of 200kmh ;-) ... What does that mean in track time: thats the difficult question... it was just my second time at Spa ... and I am new to track driving (its my first year going at it)... my first time at Spa in May with the all "standard" car, I was able to get my time down to 3:01 ... with the EX460 now I ended up with a 2:51 ... so 10 seconds faster ... to be fair ... I would say 5 seconds probably is the driver improvement compared to last time and 5 seconds is the car. It was pretty cold already (we started the day at 2C in the morning) ... I do not know how much that will impact lap time in Spa on Trofeo R... A friend of mine who regularly races in the BMW Challenge in Germany - was able to get the car to a 2:47 (with 2-3 seconds traffic) ... and said that he believes with some more practice you can get very close to 2:40 maybe even beet a 2:40. My target for next year will be to beat 2:50 and get closer to 2:45 ;-) ... So, all in all very happy. The only sore point is, that I have a gut feeling that my transmission will need an upgrade next season already ;-) but thats a sacrifice I am willing to make for all the additional fun the Upgrade brings... Cheers Norbert
Dani 39
Congratulations for your improvements! It sounds the car is fast as... hell !!! Do you have any videos? It would be great to see how it runs!
Gashead1105 308
From a passenger run along side Gary, I reckon tyres are (after the driver) the biggest performance difference. I was pootling around in 3 mins or so most of the time, in a completely standard V6 with badly heat cycled corsas. Got it under 3 mins once I think, at the end of the day, when I was a lot braver through eau rouge. Was a cracking day overall though!
farook 39
Hey Norbert - great to hear and thanks for the update. Were you at Spa on Friday at the Lotus on Track day?
NW76 499
Hi Farook: yes, I was - you as well? Will post a video next week, when I have the time to go through all my stuff.
550superfast 446
Good to meet you at Spa Norbert, I managed 2 min 53 secs quite a few times, but all with traffic. My car felt great with the aero and new trofeos on. Quote https://www.youtube.com/user/400superamerica
NW76 499
Gary: good to meet you as well - you were seriously fast and your car looks unbelievable ... I wish the Cup R Aero package would be street legal in Germany :-( Do you have any clue what time the 311 (the one from the picture of the month) was doing? How was the ring? Cheers Norbert
S1ARM 58
Sounds like you ran well Norbert! Im going to change my tyres first to Avons which turned up at the weekend just need some TD rims now! I had a good ding dong with two 458 Specialise at Spa a few weeks back driven by good drivers and they only passed down the main straights as Spa is a power track but apart from that the Exiges can handle themselves well against the super cars and will beat pretty much most things on track! So with the 460 HP and the right tyres for tracks like the ZZRs or Trofeo once you get to know the car and tracks I doubt much will touch it! Enjoy getting to know it better!

Cheers Norbert Shame the kit is not legal in Germany. Thanks - I was going about about as fast as I dared, but never got a clean lap without some traffic. I was entering Eau Rouge at 115 mph (185kph). On the Kemmel straight I was pulling 140mph (225 kph) maximum - what does a KT460 car do? NW76 499
Best Sector times: doing 210 kmh on the straight downhill before EauRouge ... lowest speed in EauRouge 168kmh ... highest speed Kemmel straight 242 kmh ... you are a lot faster through Eau Rouge... I guess I loose at least 2 Secs to the potential of the car there... or it might be your aero ;-) ... probably both... 17 minutes ago, S1ARM said: So with the 460 HP and the right tyres for tracks like the ZZRs or Trofeo once you get to know the car and tracks I doubt much will touch it! 550superfast 446
My quoted figures are off the speedometer in the car, so are probably slower than quoted. Would be great to see a data overlay of our laps to see where the time is lost and found. 225 kph (or maybe only 215-220 gps) vs 242kph is a big difference on the Kemmel Quote https://www.youtube.com/user/400superamerica
NW76 499
lets do that ;-) ... You should really come to Bilster Berg next year ... thats my home track and I am much closer to a perfect time there ;-)
S1ARM 58
I was split between both tyres but with a lot of advice and hour on the phone to Avon about how to manage the tyres i shouldn't get an issues if I follow there guidelines! Aue Rouge is one of my favourite fast corner sets in the world! The trick through (and this after some excellent in car instruction I had on my first morning back after a year) this is a little lift or touch on the breaks to settle he car before the bends and balance the throttle then it's a hard left wide then swooping balanced drift to right and the turn gently left and full power as soon as you start to turn left so you hit the top of the hill onto Kemal at 120/122MPH I was hitting 145-147 each time before putting the break on hard at the start of the fence before the chicane! Good speed I know and as my other friends said when I was there wow now that's commitment! Before I had a lesson on the first morning I wanted to get faster and find where I was losing too much speed after experiencing it the other year I had fun but was scared to push without knowing the track properly in my old M4! For those who are too proud trust me getting lessons on track makes for a better experience and will help you raise you game faster! In terms of sheer speed the guys I was with in there 675LTs with our group were averaging 135-140 mph top of Aue Rouge and 178-182mph by the time they hit the breaking point! Going out with then made the Exige feel slow! None the less they (Exiges) are in my opinion the best junior super car for the money!

farook 39
Yes, I was at Spa on fri - what a shame we didn't know we were there. I was in the silver Gt4, with my friend who was in his blue Gt4. It was a great day.
NW76 499
Farook: what s shame ... I think I saw your car but I dont think we were on track the same time ... would have been great! We need to coordinate better next time but this time I booked last minute when I saw the weather would be half way ok ... Was a great day!

farook 39
Yes, next time and also I should be in the Exige. I will post up when I am at Spa next - probably April.
Arun_D 733
Great to hear the feedback on the 460 kit, Norbert. Glad you are enjoying it. I noticed the Bilster Berg date on LoT's site the other day. The track on my list so I would definitely be up for going to this one. Better still if there's a group of us.
NW76 499
I will be at the Bilster Berg LoT TD next year in May - you can count me in! If you go, you wont regret it - its one of the best tracks out there in Germany and its brand new ... so very safe ... everybody calls it the new little Nürburgring ... lots of blind corners, elevation changes alone amount to more than 200m during one lap ... lots of fun ... very technical ... you will never forget the mouse trap there ...
