Spinney
Well despite my earlier post, I did actually enjoy this latest episode and not just because they featured Jim Clark and Lotus, although that was the highlight obviously. I didn't even find the usually very annoying Hammond quite so bad in the Jim Clark piece either, although I still think that given his on track reputation, CTL were extraordinarily brave to let him loose in such an iconic car. Gm77
I just watched that. Amazing episode; best yet. New found respect for JC. Greatest racer ever.
Mark Blanchard
Absolutely agree. Very interesting about Clark. If only he’d chosen to race at Brands Hatch. 1 Quote Mark www.lotusespritturbo.com

ramjet
I have never seen anything before about Jim Clark. I know the name obviously, but had really no idea how good he was. 1 Quote All we know is that when they stop making this, we will be properly, properly sad.Jeremy Clarkson on the Esprit. Spinney
Being an old bugger, I've been a Jim Clark fanboy since the very early 60's. It was obvious even to a youngster like me, as I was at the time, that JC was special and in a class of his own. I can recall feeling devastated on the day the news came in that he'd died at Hockenheim and didn't really believe it at first. I remember I was changing the clutch on my sisters boyfriends car and had just nipped out to pick up some hydraulic fluid and upon returning, sisters boyfriend said he'd just heard it on the radio. For me it was one of those "remember what you were doing when you heard" moments. Hell, I'm even old enough to clearly remember the Cuba crisis and the day JFK was shot! Gold FFM C8RKH Posted February 13, 2019 Gold FFM Report Share Posted February 13, 2019 @Spinney I bet you even remember the telephone! 🤣😂 Quote Alcohol. Sex. Tobacco. Drugs. Chocolate. Meh! NOTHING in this world is as addictive as an Evora +0. It's not for babies! The first guy to ride a bull for fun, was a true hero. The second man to follow him was truly nuts! I’ve got a very similar print to this picture, by Michael Turner, on my study wall. It’s one of my favourite pictures of my many motor sport related pics. Andyww
Thought the latest episode was a classic case of getting it wrong. They do this so often. The China piece was a great idea and could have been done with some silliness but a semi-serious underlying thread because the concept of sending European cars to China is an interesting one, and there were some great shots of Chinas new roads. But they totally ballsed it up, with that stupid firework thing which destroyed the cars paint. After that the whole thing was a waste of time. oilmagnet477
Just watched the last episode of TGT (episode 14 tribute to Ford Modeo). THANK GOD they are stopping! However crap Allegro Estates were at the time, I absolutely hate the way these guys have destroyed many 'classic cars' over the years. Just because Hammond wants to be 'entertaining' about how upset he was as a kid that his dad came home in a new one, there's really no need to start smashing up 40 year old survivors (looking in good nick). My mum had a roman bronze Allegro Estate when I was a kid and it was actually one of the most reliable cars she had. I also think they were quite a cool design in a quirky kind of way. I know they aren't going to be to everyone's liking and that BL was pretty much a disaster but that isn't the cars' fault. Rant over! 1 Quote Is the price for that bit in Yen or £? Andyww
I completely agree. I greatly enjoy these three in the TG and Grand Tour but when they do that it just annoys me so much I want to get up and turn it off. Its just stupid wanton destruction and completely unnecessary. On the subject of the Allegro, it has become fashionable to slag it off but most cars of the 70's and early 80's were not very good, even their much-loved Fords. We had Escort fleet cars at the place I worked and the build quality of them was appalling. We even had one which was delivered with different trim level on one side of the car to the other! USAndretti42
Watched the new episode the other day, the one where they drive boats through Cambodia. I have to say that, despite the lack of car content, I and the family thoroughly enjoyed it. I’m not sure why Clarkson, May and Hammond chose to do these specials, thought. They look like bloody hard work. Quote S4 Elan, Elan +2S, Federal-spec, World Championship Edition S2 Esprit #42, S1 Elise, Excel SE
ChrisJ
There's a new Grand Tour episode out today on Amazon Prime. I thought it was a very very weak show.
