sieger 4
Figured a bit of preventative maintenance is always good, and wanted to get my hands dirty. Anyone got some tips for diy? ? How much oil will I need? Should I buy the filter from Toyota? Thanks!
Gashead1105 317
Think @Hangar 111put 7 litres into mine when they did it a few weeks ago. No tips as I paid them to do it! The undertray has to come off.
alias23 1,535
7 litres is correct, you'll need the plug to go with the filter. Quote www.alias23.com
sieger 4
Thanks for the replies. Excuse my ignorance, but what is the plug for?...is it separate to the drain plug?
alias23 1,535
From memory there's some plug for the oil filter separate to sump plug. You can see it in the following picture:- http://www.seriouslylotus.com/featured/exige-v6-and-evora-oe-oil-filter-toyota Quote www.alias23.com
Hangar 111 316
Yep, 7 litres in the V6, and the filter is a cartridge system. There is a separate drain tool thing, but we generally don't use them, as there is no residual pressure on these engines. Dave

Jack 547
The filter housing drain plug will come with every filter cartridge, but no need to use it -- it may help reduce the oil-drip mess when removing the housing. You should get the proper tool to remove the oil filter housing, readily available from several sources ….. e.g. -- http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/151919516907?lpid=82&chn=ps&ul_noapp=true Otherwise you will need sockets remove many (~ 20 bolts/screws -- M5, M6 and M8) securing the under-tray, as well as a 14mm socket (I believe) to remove the sump drain plug. Have fun.
