Gold FFM CocoPops Posted October 25, 2016 Gold FFM Report Share Posted October 25, 2016 Yes, I know it's subjective and specific to owners circumstances and locations etc, but who are you insured with and for how much? I'm at renewal time and my quote is currently £562 for: Evora 400, 4,000 miles per annum, 6 trackdays, £600 excess (plus £1000 on track), with a tracker and garaged. In an average postcode, 13yrs NCB etc. Not sure how much I'm going to get it reduced by phoning round, so how does that compare to other 400 owners? Who should I be trying based on other peoples experiences? Gold FFM JayEmm Posted October 25, 2016 Gold FFM Report Share Posted October 25, 2016 Seems quite high to me Lee, I'm paying less than that with less NCB and a lot more miles. That being said, my insurer don't cover trackdays Quote James Martin (JayEmm) Director of Photography & Car Enthusiast Follow my Lotus adventure online! www.jayemm.com
Gold FFM CocoPops Posted October 25, 2016 Author Gold FFM Report Share Posted October 25, 2016 Yeh, Road insurance would need additional track cover which would be £100/time so I'd only need 1 or 2 days cover to soon bring it level, hence I'd rather take a specialist policy, but curious to know about others with similar policy cover. Gold FFM CocoPops Posted October 25, 2016 Author Gold FFM Report Share Posted October 25, 2016 Competition Car Insurance. I understand ones to try (for track cover included etc) are CCI, ClassicLine, Henderson Taylor, REIS, 1Answer, Manning Also, to add, if I increase to 6k miles per year it adds £80 (£640 total) and if I increase to 8k miles per year, it goes to £720 (same level of cover, just increased milage). internets
I keep getting text messages from Chris Knott insurance (01424200477) reminding me about their services and their rates are cheaper this year! although I don't think they offer track cover. PaulCP
Lee, one other aspect of insurance to be aware of when comparing rates is how the insurer handles cover when in Europe. Obviously this is not a consideration for those that only drive in the UK but your circumstances are similar to ours. We recently looked at changing insurers for Sue's car and thought we had a good price from Direct Line. However, on examining the policy we discovered that DL, like many insurers, only provide cover at 3rd party level when in Europe but will increase cover to mirror the same level as in the UK for an extra charge everytime you travel. Some insurers on the face of it appear more expensive but provide like for like cover when in Europe so could work out cheaper overall. This is not something that I have looked into before but at my renewal time I will also be asking CCI for clarity on how they/AVIVA treat this aspect. (If I could find my policy booklet I guess it would tell me but don't know where it is and, since I don't plan on travelling to Europe before renewal in Feb, it can wait until then. Gold FFM CocoPops Posted November 21, 2016 Author Gold FFM Report Share Posted November 21, 2016 So I renewed last month, policy starts tomorrow, so I thought I'd better declare my recent Keying incident.... £120 extra on a £520 policy. And people say "ahh just claim on the insurance it won't affect premiums if you have protected no claims" I knew it would affect my policy, but I decided the £2k repair bill was more than 5yrs of increased premiums. It's going to be close, but at least it's dribbled over 5yrs rather than a 1 hit £2k bill. Insurance fuckers! At least that's one reason for them not to pay out prevented by declaring a claim. RJB
Just getting quotes on the Sport 410 - Chris Knot wouldnt touch it as over £45K value, best by far is Competition Car Insurance at £480 plus they allow 6 x track days - only requirement is to fit a tracker. Gunner44
I know. The paint protection film is coming in at £1250 plus VAT for the front end. I'll see if there are any recommendations on here but I like the idea of going somewhere proven. I'll be insuring the car tomorrow, will try CCI and Classic line. Gold FFM CocoPops Posted April 6, 2017 Author Gold FFM Report Share Posted April 6, 2017 I used http://www.paintguard.co.uk for the film. They fitted it whilst the car was at Auto Curators. Gunner44
Thanks for your help re tracker and paint protection film. Cheapest insurance quote £1,100 from CLI for 8,000 miles a year, 8 years NCB, no convictions, garaged etc. etc. Inc. track day and euro cover. Requires tracker. Admiral want £1200 no track day no tracker. Competition Car Insurance want £1455! Not sure what mileage you guys are doing but maybe thats the reason for the difference?
