Looks like a tourist day at the Nurburgring ..

My thoughts exactly when i saw George's footage for the first time.  I did my first TF lap a couple of months back after about 6 year of stopping and just doing trackdays there...it quickly reminded me why!

Shame I didn't know you were there, I was simultaneously visiting the other side of the circuit with the BRSCC race meeting. I didn't know it was Trax weekend, till I got there. Some very entertaining memories from years gone by in my hot hatch days. I think my car would have blended in with the wing, though I don't vape.

nicely driven George 👍

That GTR reminds me of the old video where the Merc was slow round the corners, then uses it power to stop anyone passing on the straights.....

you shall not pass the lord of the rings GIF

Love the Beemer, never can have enough exhaust flame!

Went to Trax yesterday at Silverstone...  Did a session on the National circuit and they said it was 40 cars on track. It felt like about 400 cars on track, was utter chaos with what seemed like no rules. I didn't actually know it was the national circuit until I got Maggotts on the sighting lap!

Phil from Driftworks was in his E30 M3 which has an e90 V8 in it with a DSG which was awesome.

I'm not really feeling great in the car at the moment, the setup just isn't right. Really I need a full day on track to dial into a setup I'm happy with.

Phil and yourself decimating all.  Fantastic stuff.  I used to compete in the drifting with Phil years ago, great pilot and building some awesome cars so you are both in good company.

The E30 perspective:

Tasteful upgrades as always, I would sincerely wanted to know more about the exposed shifter conversion. I have been looking everywhere (even consulting factory about it), and it is awesome to see that you have done it here! Truely awesome job!

Agreed. I spoke to the factory also and was point blank told it wasn’t possible so great to see it is possible.
it seems a bit shortsighted of lotus to not offer it as an upgrade kit for older cars equally they could offer a 380 kit for older cars too but choose not too. It’s strange as with the S2 Exige there was loads of people getting a factory upgrade to 260bhp

They also told me it wasn’t possible, but after enough research, I thought it was worth the risk. I’m glad it worked as it would have been a nice waste of money otherwise!

I’m glad I didn’t go for the inokinetic option, while it’s an improvement on the standard shifter, it’s no where near as good as the OEM solution.

To loosely quote a Lotus dealer I spoke to about getting 380/410 parts on my 350

"... Lotus seem to price things like they don't want to sell anything "

Yes. Or seem to think that by not selling someone a gearbox mod / louvred boot lid / 380 power kit that person is going to think “oh well in that case il have to spend another 40 grand and buy the latest model”

Interior all done.   I've got got a blank carbon airbag cover panel which I switch in when I'm only using the car on the road as the race logic is a bit in your face as a passenger.

Steering wheel could do with some attention at some stage, the leather parts are original and pretty much solid now despite many efforts at cleaning it, the Alcantara (which I don't think was genuine Alcantara) feels rough and horrible now.

Debate is whether I go to a removable steering wheel, potentially with steering wheel buttons, or stay with this wheel, get it repainted in a more matte black (or maybe dark gunmetal) as it's gone a bit shiny, then a proper retrim by D:Class.

Looking good in there George. Not 100% convinced on the quilted dash and door card insert......but the rest looks swell!! Particularly like the alcantara around the steering wheel binnacle - would have looked good over the passenger airbag section too. The exposed linkage setup with the OEM surround look, really finishes it off👌

Oh, I've also got the new V3 tail lights from GregsRaceParts on my car to photograph his launch photos. He's launching them this weekend, but thought I'd give my initial thoughts.

My old lights were arguably a bit dark in the side light mode, these totally fix that and look so much better. They're a sharper design which look more modern.  The quality is absolutely top notch, properly weather sealed so you know they'll last (old ones have been on my car for over a year and still work perfectly).

Last night I did a nice little shoot of my car in London, here's the only photo I took of the front of the car...

In photos where you see the whole interior I see your point and agree to a certain extent, but in real life, your vision is much narrower and when in the car you can only take in one part of the car at a time. Therefore the quilted parts don't grab your eye as much and are more tasteful in person.  Having said that, if I can get the inner bit of the door (which is currently quilted) in carbon, I'd be tempted by that...

With the passenger airbag, I debated Alcantara, but decided it needed a bit of carbon to break up what is already a lot of Alcantara.

@GFWilliams your car looks super in that photo. What a stunning vehicle you have created. Nice one.

I came into this world screaming and covered in someone elses blood. I'll probably leave it in the same way.

I had both sent to me to do photos, so installed both.  Decided I preferred the red lenses, so the smoked have now been sent on to another UK Exige owner :)

I didn't know you knew my address ;)

Are you planning on getting the gearshift and mechanism black anodised, or are you leaving it as is?

I'm still undecided. Need to talk to the anodisers as the shaft of the new shifter is actually 3 pieces which are adhesive together, so not sure how well they'd anodise.  Might go for a gunmetal effect instead of black as I feel silver is too bright and black might be too dark.
