GFWilliams
@MrDthere are a couple of options for the battery tray dependant on which battery you have. I bought 3a from here: https://www.bellandcolvill.co.uk/deroure?qs=1&preview=1&make=1&model=40&groupid=11970 This page is potentially also useful: https://www.bellandcolvill.co.uk/deroure?qs=1&preview=1&make=1&model=40&groupid=11972
Popular Post GFWilliams
New car parts day!! First of all we have the new Komotec front splitter, featuring some nice aero benefits to reduce lift on the front. I opted to get it in a bare carbon finish so I have more time to decide on gloss or satin finish for the carbon. I’m leaning towards gloss… Next we have the Komotec A-panel which features a nice big air outlet. Most of this will be painted in bodycolour, with just the actual vent left exposed carbon.
Popular Post GFWilliams
I did find a small issue when test fitting the splitter. Because my exige is a fairly early car, the washer bottle is in the front above where the front undertray goes. With the KT splitter, it has brake cooling ducts which need the space there. So I’m going to have to relocate the washer bottle somewhere when the car is next up on axle stands. 3

Maybe I'm getting old, but I don't want any more power, 460hp is plenty. Someone sent me the service manuals a while ago, can't remember who, but they've been very useful in the last few days. Some pictures of the progress, I'm still finding it weird seeing the car with no clams on: And even more so, the rear clam taking up pretty much all of my back garden: Guess you dont want to have gt3's at the track looking at your rear end then What are the brake options to go radial mount on this platform? I like the magnetic posts but unless u can lock them doesn't it make it easy for someone to ground your positive terminal if they wanted to defeat an alarm or something? Ken will make a start on it in the coming weeks hopefully. I visited and we ran through everything that’s being done and it’s scary how many things there are to do. I am pleased that the ducts for the front clam have now arrived, the Lotus factory weren’t able to give a date these could be delivered so I was a little nervous about them arriving before the car was completed… also ordered the battery tray from the newer exiges, the one in my car was steel and weighed a lot, the new one is aluminium. on the subject of battery stuff, I’ve ordered a new battery charger, and while I’m at it, I wanted to add magnetic plugs to the car. I think I’ll try to hide this in the drivers side intake. Lots of supercars now have these as it means you can charge a car without needing to run the wire through a boot or bonnet. Onto some bad news, the front brake bells were off to be blasted and then anodised, the place doing it stopped after the blasting stage as the corrosion was quite bad on them. I need to decide which direction to go now, whether I stick with KT brakes or change to floating brakes. I think in future I’ll be avoiding salty roads unfortunately, if the trips in the snow weren’t so amazing, I’d regret it, but it was worth it! I have a friend who's fitted those magnetic battery charger connectors to all his cars. He's learnt the hard way that the best place to put them is somewhere around the front grill. Then (assuming you park nose into the garage) when you drive away - forgetting that it's connected - it just detatches itself. No harm done. GFWilliams
Went over the the bodyshop today to sort a few bits. I removed the washer bottle so the KT splitter now fits. I’ll find a solution to relocate this or have a smaller washer bottle once the car is back home. I also removed the interior parts which needed to come off to be painted (gear shift surround and HVAC). I also test fitted the front ducting for behind the new clam, they’re not a perfect fit, but I’ll be able to make them fit perfectly. I assume Lotus now use different radiators or mounts (I know they blank the rhs one). I also brought along my new wheels to see them on the car. Pretty pointless exercise without any bodywork really or tyres on the wheels…

MrD
These wheels are truly amazing, I personally can not digest the price but the detail and style are spot on. Wonderful items. Quote https://www.youtube.com/user/fiestaria
Popular Post GFWilliams
The first of the wing uprights has been made! Leigh from Autobarn Engineering has been brilliant and they're exactly how I wanted them to be. I am undecided on the finish I'll go with, I'd quite like to get the textured finish like my wheels, but I'm struggling to find a company in the UK who can do it... 5

mayak
It's fascinating to see the stripped down Exige and having the chance to even improve upon the existing design. I would be so tempted to replace certain screws with good quality stainless steel ones. Knowing and cleaning every spot of your car must be satisfying. At least if you're a bit OCD like me 🙈 Can't wait for the next update and revelation of your new color. Military Grey and this Airforce Blue must be the best colors I've seen so far. So curious about yours - it must be special as you're trying to prevent anyone from copying it onto a newly built Exige. I hope you're having fun with your great project. The connector is actually attached to a thin black elastic string that is just enough to pull it away from the paintwork if I forget... MartynB
Loving watching the transformation George. I'm intrigued to see how it all comes together once it's "done" (yeah, done, right 🤣) I could help wince for Ken's lungs, grinding the GFRP with no PPF. Mmm, glass particulates... Nice LED rears on the 170.

Popular Post GFWilliams
Progress is a little slower than we hoped, but prep is going well. A bit more finessing of things to go. The prep takes the longest, then things should speed up a lot when we get to painting.

Popular Post GFWilliams
Got my uprights anodised in black, I had been debating trying to match the finish of the wheels, but it was proving a pain.
