Popular Post GFWilliams
Tractive Control Unit installed. Wasn’t too hard a job, only getting the wires through to the front dampers and needing to drill a hole. I opted to fit the TCU under the passenger seat where it just about fitted.
Toqcars
Is it possible to integrate the front axle lift kit to the TracTive suspension?
GFWilliams
I actually asked this, the geometry is already compromised on the exige in terms of damper travel. There just isn’t space for a damper lift system unfortunately.
Toqcars
So schratched carbon splitters are just normal on our cars... no matter of Nitron R3 or TracTive 🙂
Popular Post GFWilliams
Finally got some mirrors into stock today and one set were destined for my own car. I’ve had a prototype set ever since we first made them, so it’s really nice to have our “production” spec finally!
stephenwhyte
Looks good……but jeezus, your slow reveal teasers, are more drawn out than Lotus Cars own new car teasers! Just show us the bloody colour!😜😉
Popular Post GFWilliams
@stephenwhyte - I wanted to launch it months ago and be on the road enjoying it, but the delays have been out of my control. The actual rebuild has gone really smoothly, I’m just waiting for the rest of the parts to finish assembling it. I really want to show the car totally finished, not in pieces. It’s not meant to tease people, it’s meant to bring people along for my journey of rebuilding it.
Edinburgh 111s
The “colour reveal” has been going on so long I think most people have lost interest 😂 Anyway, look forward to seeing the final product. The new bodywork under the A pillars looks pretty trick and a nice design. I think the spoiler is going to be pretty marmite….
tim_marra
Will it be pink as suggested a long time ago?
Popular Post El-RGB
These mirrors are things of beauty! Very nice looking at the progress going
Exigo
Really like those mirrors. As these only use two mounting points, what do you do to cover up the extra hole further up the mounting area? (Apologies if this gives cause to repeat yourself).
Gold FFM Paul_D Posted March 18 Gold FFM Report Share Posted March 18 @Exigo I'm sure George won't mind me answering this on his behalf. In reality, there are three options. 1) Just use a small black bung in the hole, and leave the rest of the area body coloured. Like this: https://www.thelotusforums.com/forums/topic/116134-toqs-exige-orange-exige-cup-430-final-edition/#comment-974615 2) Get the hole properly filled, and the area re-painted in black. That's what George has done. 3) Cover the area in vinyl film. This is what I personally did, using some 3M matt black vinyl. https://www.thelotusforums.com/forums/topic/113447-pauls-exige-410-sport/?page=5
GFWilliams
Front clam is now on, headlights secure (need aligning though) and A-panel on on one side. Good weekend progress.
Popular Post GFWilliams
I was debating what to do with my louvres, the 430 Cup just has drain holes and that defeats the whole point of having them really. I wanted to have an aerodynamic benefit if possible, so wanted them open, the debate was then: - Grills or no grills? - If I use a grill, then grill mounted to the arch liner, or grill mounted to the clam? I ended up adding a grill to the arch liner as this is more likely to stop any stones from going behind the arch liners and just getting stuck. I decided to add a grill as a few people have tried them open and reported chips on the windscreen as a result.
Gold FFM Brendonian Posted March 21 Gold FFM Report Share Posted March 21 I’d have thought the best compromise to prevent stones and crap being thrown at the windscreen would be not to directly align the vent in the wheel arch liner with the vent in the clam. GFWilliams
@Brendonian - better if the air can easily escape!
Gold FFM Brendonian Posted March 21 Gold FFM Report Share Posted March 21 @GFWilliams air is fairly good at going around corners! It’s not about getting a fast jet of air, just equalising pressure.
GFWilliams
@Brendonianyes, but if you had it misaligned, a higher proportion of dirt, water, etc would end up in places I wouldn’t want
Gold FFM Brendonian Posted March 21 Gold FFM Report Share Posted March 21 @GFWilliams so you do want it thrown at your windscreen! 😉

I can report that the Cup 430 (do I need to tell that louvres are stock on the cup cars?) windshield is full of stone chips after few thousand miles. Was already fixing them two times with the UV resin.
GFWilliams
430 Cup has covered up louvres, so that will make no difference to the stone chips. Slightly scary filling the V5 in for the change of colour...

alexw
Do you bake the paint you're using for these? I was contemplating repainting mine, but I was looking at removing all the pistons and seals so as not to damage them when baking the paint..
