INITIATING Citroen C35 Crown gear/pinion GROUP BUY

I'm initiating a Group Buy Initiative List.

It took a while, but finally, my new design has been completed!

Comparing to the original Citroen DS  Crown Gear and Pinion Shaft (CW+P), new design addresses several critical deficiencies of the old OE parts.
It offers:
- reversed direction of the spiral - to correct the OE design flaw and apply force to the correct flank of the tooth (see posts 53-60 on LT )
- larger pitch for increased tooth thickness (30% strength increase)
- revised, more robust pinion gear tooth design
- better final ratio of 1: 4.286 , which improves the top speed in gear (more "peppy"acceleration)
- aerospace grade alloy steel (same as critical aircraft engine gears) = indestructible

New parts are coming soon. 4.428 ratio improved design with stronger teeth. The ultimate best!

in your last post you had the ratio at 3.8 but here you have it as 4.2

so was that a typo or are you trying to do the group buy for the 4.2?

how much? and how many people do you need?

i may be interested for the 4.2 ratio

Design has been finalized and roll-tested.
New, bespoke tooling is required for these parts.

Can not start tooling without a firm commitment.

I do not see improvement in that.

 

i can offer several diff final drive ratio beside the standard original.

1: 4.857

1: 3,888

My apologies for the delay, which was caused by some unexpected personal events and difficulties in finding a suitable manufacturing source.
Spiral helical gears are not easy to make and finding someone who won't charge a ridiculous fee(s) is even more difficult.

Really??

 

All theoretical , non proven. What if some part, 1st gear needle bushing, synchro hub ( special splines) 2nd gear needle bushing, 3rd and 4th gear train, flanged double row angular ball bearing, 5th driven gear and speedo nut, does not fit, than what?  Do you have bleu print or do you use used parts to try and fit?

Long awaited Super Strong Reverse Cut CWP-s for Citroen trans-axles have finally arrived.
 
Parts were designed w/objective to maximize torque handling and Reliability. The best German spec Alloy Steel was used and a special heat treating process was used to maximize hardened layer (the "skin") on the parts.
Compared to the OEM and HLM parts, they have more robust teeth with thicker roots and no stress raisers. Compare pictures  4 vs. 7
and 5 vs. 6.
NEW DESIGN Pinion has 7 teeth and the Crown gear has 31. 
OEM 8/35 has a weaker pinion and crown gear, due to a smaller pitch and narrow(er) tooth root (base).
Pitch increase results in teeth number reduction and allows for a significant thickness increase. Consequently, the 7T pinion is much stronger than OEM 8T parts.
Similar principle applies to any crown gear.
Reducing number of teeth from 35T to 31T creates more space along the pitch circle, permitting for cutting thicker teeth without altering overall size of the pair.

so what should I say about that now?

Compared to OEM and HML.

"German spec alloy steel". That says nothing at all about the quality of the material.
Not everything that comes from Germany is good. Once you have a certificate that describes the quality of the material, the same material from, for example, France is also perfect.
And then you also have to indicate what material you use.


HML uses 18CrNiMo7-6 for those sets, which is the standard for hardened sets.
Measuring tooth thickness with a digital caliper ?? I don't think an engineer measures gears like that. A child can understand that if you mill fewer teeth in a certain diameter wheel, the thickness thereof increases. 21/5 gives an even thicker tooth. That does not mean anything about the strength of a tooth. The type of tooth is. Gleason, compared to Klingelnberg, has the disadvantage that Gleason has a smaller tooth foot radius and therefore succumbs faster to tooth fracture.
In addition, the geometry over the tooth length at Gleason is a "circular arc".
At Klingelnberg this is an "Epicycloid", which makes the Klingelnberg system less susceptible to installation errors and house deformation under load.
If you are going to calculate with equivalent sets: Klingelnberg vs Gleason, Klingelnberg will be the strongest choice according to the calculation modules.
About the transmission ratio.
The cars with a 7-31 ratio will accelerate faster and you will lose your top speed.
At the same speed, the car will also go higher in revs, which is less comfortable.
