Lotus Exige Sport 380

Recommended Posts

I can only ever realistically talk about retail prices, it isn't easy. Works the other way around too. I still get people telling me the Evora is overpriced because a Cayman GT4 was 65k....

The 380 has the forged wheels and lithium battery as standard too (which I neglected to mention), those are worth a few quid on the options list. On a like for like basis there isn't too much in it.

As mentioned in the vid the 350 is still an awesome car, if it is your first Lotus or Exige I doubt it will disappoint

Price wise, I believe Lotus is heading towards troubled waters.....given the fact that most parts are purchased in € or other currencies and the drop of the £, they have only 2 possibilities .....give up part of their margin ....or increase their prices..... hopefully maybe Geely the new owner can help them getting parts at a better price, but this will not come into play in the near future...it will take time for Geely to get into the game, find out what's needed, source parts, test them, etc. etc. etc.... difficult times ahead still......

Saw a proud looking Mark on tweet from Oakmere today. Looks great! I fancied Kawasaki green but was overruled by SWMBO.

Great stuff Mark, glad you like it! Ref. the guages I saw a newly delivered Sport 350 at my local Lotus dealer last week and it too had the new different binnacle guages which I thought looked better actually.

Looks one hell of a car - congratulations! I know it's brand new but it looks flawless!!!B-) Now I just need to sell my S4s......and I'm pretty sure I'll be joining you!

Fantastic, Kawasaki Green is very much the colour of the moment it seems. You must take it to a Kawasaki dealer for a photo! Great to know the cars now come with TPMS, didn't know that. Looks like the random spec changes are still going strong up at Hethel, glad it's a nice surprise! Many congratulations

 Update...

Well 200 miles in and only day two, want to reach the magic 1000 this summer.

Someother minor things, not sure if anyone else has this...

1) The fan and AC didn't come on once, had to stop the car and restart it before they would work. No amount of pressing the AC button or changing the fan speed would make it blow. Anyone else had this?

2) Road noise. The amount of road noise is way above my V6S. I speccd sound proofing but I didn't spec carpets, only mats. Wonder if this is the issue, but I don't think so. again anyone else picked up on this?

3) Cruise Control. Not as slick as my Audi, but functional, good for road works this average speed cameras a la M60

4) Fekkers driving Ford ST badged cars. why O why do they drive right up your arse and when you pull over they drop a gear and screech past? Actually Astra owners do it too... FFS

5) Kawasaki Green. Jesus, everyone and I mean anyone when I stop or park up just salivates on the paint work. Great job by lotus!

6) Got a parking ticket too. Couldn't get on my sons drive due to the length and incline and my lack of road clearance. Parked outside his house, a Cul-de Sac' miles wide, no schools or anything, just double yellows, was there 5 mins and slapped me with a ticket... [email protected]

Anyway, really pleased with the monster of a car that it is and got used to the different suspension, it's now not as noticeable now that I've done a few miles.

cheers

Mark

Oh, and I found a USB charger on the lower left hand side of the dash. Also order engine covers too.

cheers

Hi Mark

I've had my 380 since late March and haven't had the AC problem you mention.  Assume it will be a switch issue somewhere and should be easily sorted at first service.

I'm just booking mine in as I'm approaching 1,000 miles.  Getting carbon hatch cover fitted and soft top mounts cut out at the same time.  Carbon hardtop has been on order for 15 weeks and still waiting, but I'll use the soft top for most of summer, save for hopefully squeezing in some track time, when I'll swap back.

It's fun with the roof off, but bloody hot, or at least it was yesterday.  It's strange but you only feel the benefit of the AC when you slow down for junctions etc.  The rest of the time it feels like the car is pulling in hot air from the engine and the AC isn't up to the job.  Fortunately, I doubt I'll have to worry about that too often given our climate.  On the plus side, it sounds fantastic with the roof off.

Cheers

Mick

switch on re-circulation to stop outside hot air from entering?

At first I thought you were having a laugh, but re-reading my post, I can see that I wasn't that clear.  The AC vents continue to to deliver cold air at all times, it's just that this is swamped by the masses of hot air that seems to come from the rather large gap where the roof used to be :)

Probably an airflow issue with the roof off.  But I would have expected lots of owners to experience the same on all variations of the V6 - it can't be 380 specific.

@mickv I get the carbon when I ordered it, in my opinion it sets the car off to a tee. The engine covers I refered to are the black plastic ones that Lotus no longer provide with a new car.

And I know what you mean by hot, even with the AC on the other day the interior was still warm. Can't wait for the 1000 miles, but probably will be when I get back from work end July before it gets there.

cheers

Mark

Minor update..... 350 miles in.

Car really is excellent!!

Apart from the SQUEAKING FEKING DRIVERS SEAT.... started at around 300 miles and has not stopped. No, I'm not a fat git either... so have to agree with @JayEmm

, this is totally [email protected] for a car that cost in excess of £80K.. you cannot defend this poor quality... seems to be from the lower right hand side... in fact it's that bad it could be used in a porno movie... I hope someone from Lotus reads this forum 'cos it's terrible!!!!!!

BUT everything is is fine, excellent in fact, no more electrical gremlins with the AC

either...

cheers

Mark

Lotus seem to have an allergy to good seats at the moment, but glad you are loving the car otherwise .

I was approached by a new 250 Cup owner to ask if the seats in my 350 had any play in them. His drivers seat had a LOT of play in it, so seems the problems are always with the Cup seats. Dealer has been trying to tell him it's normal.....He was not a happy chap.

@rs200evo

Its definitely "not normal", its just plain awful and really loud. If it was just a bit noisey, then fine, but its not. There are no other squeaks and rattles with the car, just perfect. It can't be the carbon seats themselves, so surely must be the frame mechanism/mounting that is moving around. Anyway, told Oakmere about it, so on 1000 mile service I'd expect it to get some TLC.

cheers

Mark

ps maybe I am a fat git :(

I agree, loud noise from them is not normal or should not be anyway.  They do rock a bit, this is a known issue, I had new runners put on my car a few weeks ago and they have again started to rock slightly which is noticeable on breaking, I can live with that and having harnesses in mine reduces the issue of this I think.  I'm sure the noise can be resolved for you, there is nothing worse than a squeak.

I bet you will enjoy the drive back from your running in service, being able to utilise all of the rev band. :)
