over revving

I'm sure this type of problem has been covered in this forum about boost etc but not sure if mine is exactly the same.

When I put my foot down and get to 3000 revs in any gear, the car overrevs to about 4500 and the engine roars and the needle falls back again and im catapulted forward! Freescan has shown no abnormality. Anything else I can check for. (No problems with acceleration below the 3000 mark and normal driving). Any thought?

Sounds like clutch slip. I first got this after the car had its tracking checked middle of summer with the engine running on ramps for bloody ages. Left the garage, doen the motorway slip road with plenty of right foot and the rev shot up but with no acceleration, back off a bit and it was fine.

I've had it a couple of times since then but mainly when the cars got a little hot and I've been a bit heavy with my right foot. Obviously Ill be replacing the clutch in the near future to cure this properly.

I suspected it could be that, especially as my biting point is so high (see previous question about biting point)
