Finally, just to add some more info and thoroughly beat this horse senseless  …...

I also made a call to NGK USA headquarters and talked to a tech who after looking up NGK ILFR7B8, told me that if I want a plug with the identical specs (as to heat range, gap, projection, etc.) and that is readily available , I can go with NGK's LFR7AIX plug.  The only difference is that the "IX" series plugs do not use a platinum tip on the ground, hence the shorter recommended life span of 40-50K miles.

By way of comparison, NGK's representation for the "Laser Iridium" series (stock) plug life span is  80-100K miles, as it uses platinum as well as iridium.

I know ….. TMI   :D

Much appreciated Dave

Yes, that style of tool is fine, I was thinking of the coin style, like this...

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Silverline-202148-0-5-2-55-0-02-0-1-Inches/dp/B00865SXQ4

...but it's horses for courses. The coin ones spread the load over more of the ground electrode and shove less metal into the nose area, so give me a slightly warmer feeling.

I reckon you'll be fine, as not everyone is cool with gapping their own plugs, as you say it's a technical job and not everyone is technical.

NGK also makes a racing plug that will work.....R7438-8 (same heat range as stock, I believe) or 1 step colder....R7438-9.  Lotus supplies the latter in their GT4 Evoras.

Monkeywrench has these ....... https://www.monkeywrenchracing.com/product/ngk-spark-plug-1-2gr-fe-1-step-colder-iridium/

There is no reason at all to go for HKS over NGK, unless you just like to pay some more for nothing. I'd not be surprised is HKS spark plugs are OEMed by NGK.

So most likely it is possible to buy NGK spark plugs in three different boxes (Lotus, HKS and NGK), and Lotus is more aggressive with markup / carry higher overheads than HKS.

As per the earlier comments in this thread... folks can not source the NGK specific spark plug at the specific specification recommended here in the UK. It appears to be an exclusive to Lotus hence the HKS question to understand how different it is from the lotus spec given it’s recommended by a lotus team.
