silverfrost 1,390
No front spoiler is not standard, looks like the owner modded the old glass one or made a new one Nothing on that car that cant be put back to standard easily though, the rear lourves look they are the ones that are stuck down onto the old tailgate glass also. Nice looking car from the looks of it, bar the mods, but its in the right colour to begin with which is a massive bonus, and that engine looks like it has been well looked after Quote A
Gold FFM johnpwalsh 1,370 Posted January 25, 2017 Author Gold FFM Report Share Posted January 25, 2017 yep, agree with the comments and the new owner wants her restored to original with the exception of the bumpers. He wants the UK spec ones. Looking forward to her arrival.

Gold FFM johnpwalsh 1,370 Posted February 1, 2017 Author Gold FFM Report Share Posted February 1, 2017 Well it's been a quiet kind of week with LotusRecue as it's had o take a back seat for a moment. Finally sold my Mini Cooper so been spending time getting her MOT ready, finger crossed she will pass on Thursday and be gone by the weekend. That then means the big ouble garage I managed to get hold of last week can be filled with the Blue Excel and get cracking on her again. Seats out for a good clean, windscreen removed and new one fitted and the exterior given it's first good clean in years. brakes etc have all been done so may even push for an MOT if I find nothing else wrong. Been dealing with a few issues with the house these last few days as well. Don't you just bloody hate insurance companies. See whay made you unhappy today.
silverfrost 1,390
Chin up John, these things are sent to test us. Look forward to updates on the projects once the garage space is freed up 1 Quote A
Gold FFM Popular Post johnpwalsh 1,370 Posted February 4, 2017 Author Gold FFM Popular Post Report Share Posted February 4, 2017 Well. LotusRescue took a step forward late last night and got one of the cars into the new workshop. I can now work in a nice big garage with plenty of light and room to move. Progress, isn't it wonderful.
Gold FFM Escape 846 Posted February 4, 2017 Gold FFM Report Share Posted February 4, 2017 Great news John! I know how it feels to have to work in an improvised setting all the time, so I'm real happy for you! 1 Quote I have made many mistakes in my life. Buying a multiple Lotus is not one of them. Gold FFM Popular Post johnpwalsh 1,370 Posted February 7, 2017 Author Gold FFM Popular Post Report Share Posted February 7, 2017 Well now the SA is securely indoors and I can work out of the weather. I took the chance to take some photographs of the bodywork which is in pretty good condition other than the two scores on the rear quarter. I gave half the roof a bit of a polish ( PIC 10) to see how it would come up and again, it's fine. I recon a couple of hours with the big polisher will work wonder's. It's certainly good enough for a rolling restoration where someone can get the use of her until time and or funds allow for a touch up. Next step is to strip down the brakes and get them all back to standard which I don't think will take much as they are all working, just a bit tight, strip down the calipers, clan the slides and replaced the pads and shoes, see to the flexi hoses and check out all the brake pipes, that will be another tick off the list. She will be a nice run about for someone this summer for sure. Paint Code A55

Gold FFM johnpwalsh 1,370 Posted February 7, 2017 Author Gold FFM Report Share Posted February 7, 2017 Thanks Mike, cracking on with whats to be done. Did you see the S3 advertised at the weekend. Strong money, advertised at just over 16k but would have been ok if you could have picked her up for about 15.5 K, especially with all the work that had been done. Gold FFM Popular Post johnpwalsh 1,370 Posted February 11, 2017 Author Gold FFM Popular Post Report Share Posted February 11, 2017 Well another step for LousRescue. Sold the little Ford Fusion runabout and managed to bag a half decent TD 5 Phase 2 Discovery for sensible money. New gearbox and transfer box, new clutch and flywheel just fitted along with all new brakes, power steering pump and a few other odd's and end's. Great service history, although highish on the miles, and a nice fresh chassis. So we now have a tow mule for the trailer again which is a godsend since selling the van just over a month ago. The Mrs and I can now tramp the motorway's in some comfort while knowing we have the weight and power to pull and stop when required. had to consider something pretty decent as we have a run to Folkstone soon for the first inbound S1 Esprit from the States, no confirmed date on the second one yet. Even Wendy can drive her, which she couldn't with the Left hand drive VW T4 van. Happy chappies today. More progress.

Gold FFM johnpwalsh 1,370 Posted February 12, 2017 Author Gold FFM Report Share Posted February 12, 2017 Cheer's Dan, yep she's home and running fine. Dont like the great big chunky tires though so will look for some replacements soon as it makes a huge difference to the driving and handling experience. Might add a pic later with a little addition on her.

Gold FFM johnpwalsh 1,370 Posted February 12, 2017 Author Gold FFM Report Share Posted February 12, 2017 Quick pic of the lotusRescue workhorse. With a bit of an addition. I recon that would look smart on a wheel cover, but would probably get stolen.
Andrew C 229
Not really a good advert for Lotus John sorry to be a bit negative. Can hear it now is it that bad that Lotus need their own rescue service
Gold FFM C8RKH 6,703 Posted February 12, 2017 Gold FFM Report Share Posted February 12, 2017 Now that you've put it that way I can see where you are coming from and agree @Andrew C. Maybe change name to a simple Lotus Restorations or Classic Lotus or something. However, what's in a name, best news of all John is that you are finding, restoring and getting these old beauties back on the road. Nice one. Quote Alcohol. Sex. Tobacco. Drugs. Chocolate. Meh! Gold FFM johnpwalsh 1,370 Posted February 12, 2017 Author Gold FFM Report Share Posted February 12, 2017 OK, so some people seem to think a play on words may be required. So play I did. See what you think of this one, very similar but with more meaning. I want to keep LotusRescue as that is the ethos of what we are doing. So, any of you pc experts who are more adept at this than me, and there will be thousands, unless of course you are under 5 years old. Feel free. Have a play and see what you can come up with. Gold FFM Popular Post johnpwalsh 1,370 Posted February 20, 2017 Author Gold FFM Popular Post Report Share Posted February 20, 2017 Well, this evening I got word from a little birdie of another barn/shed/garden/garage find. it would appear that a rather nice S4 Turbo was parked up 7 years ago in a guy's garage to wait his return from oversea's. He has never returned and I have been given the nod to go see the car with a posible option of buying it for restoration. Mediterranean Blue with Magnolia interior, exactly the same as my last S4. So now the hunt is on as I have yet to get exact details of the address. I know the village, but no the house. How many Blue S4's can there be tucked away in a little village in the Scottish highlands. Not to many me think's. Time for google maps. I hope it looks like this my last one. Which, by the way is also for sale.

Gold FFM Escape 846 Posted March 2, 2017 Gold FFM Report Share Posted March 2, 2017 I've been mailing with John, he's helping me sell a Triumph Stag and buy another Lotus. He asked me to say hi to you all, as unfortunately he doesn't have access to TLF from his oil rig. He promised to come back and 'annoy us' in 7.5 weeks. 2 Quote I have made many mistakes in my life.
