Exhaust movement - Engine & Ancillaries/Gearbox - The Lotus Forums #ForTheOwners Jump to content

Have a Komotec on my car and even though all the fixings are tight, there's a fair bit of up/down movement.

Seems to be the orange rubber bushes on both fixing points that have a lot of bend - does anyone else's move?

Can move it by hand quite easily.

Unrelated (I think) but a few times today changing down from 3rd to 2nd gear at a reasonably high but safe rpm I had a screeching noise - not sure where from from but assume gearbox or clutch - any ideas?

Cheers

Have you just fitted it? Is the exhaust support / hangar that is attached to the two bolts betweeen back box and manifold in place?. I.e. The bit you would need to separate to attach new exhaust.

i imagine that will damp a fair bit of exhaust moment

It's been on a few months now, and only noticed the movement when I heard a bit of a rattle down there.

Went to investigate the rattle (seems to have gone) and noticed I could move the exhaust.

Can't say I know which bit you mean - I thought the only hangers are the two either side with the rubber bushes?

#4 ?

No other hangers on the KT
