“A dying platform”? What, the Evora or TLF??!?

I meant forums

i use to be active on others but it all seems it’s moved to social media platforms ie Facebook.

I love forums to read old posts and some good knowledge info on forums and generally a good bunch of enthusiasts.

Upgrade today to remove Google ads and support TLF.

I have sent 1 tweet in total, the whole of twitter seems such a disorganized jumble. Facebook is a bit better but these forums are better arranged. I also am on a forum for a MG diagnostic tool.

Thanks.
Great to see there’s a Forum as seems like it’s a dying platform but a wealth of information I’m going through whilst stuck at home!

Another thing is patience ! As cars do come onto market but not like Ford Focus so you might get tempted to jump to quick ? I constantly scanned auto trader , pistonheads, car and classic eBay and any other car search sites !

Hasn’t stopped my buying one.

Has proved more challenging though as I can’t view it so (private sale) the seller agreed to a health check at a specialist to ease any possible concerns.

I’ve been looking for a few weeks and all the good abs realistically priced examples seem to be selling fast.

I’ve actually whacked up a Facebook blog page just so I can keep track of the stuff done on that bloody tvr. There’s nothing like tlf for them that I’ve found @C8RKH and I’m sure folks on here don’t want to see pics of an even shitter car made by folks whom are really damn good with silicon sealant

Only here once

Likewise - bought mine last August in the "lull" between lockdowns simply because it came available (and not many do), was local/at my trusted dealership, and the right spec/price for me - at that time test drives with masks on were allowed in Norfolk (those were the days....) - it hasn't been far since, mind..... 🤨

Personally, I would get a company to pick it up and deliver it. (shiply.com can give you plenty of options). This lockdown might not be over for another month (at least) so a couple of hundred quid extra can give you plenty of 'essential journeys' in your new Evora.

If you are buying from a reputable dealer, there is no need to see a car before purchase. I did not see my Evora before buying from Bell and Colvill (8 year old car at the time).

I have also bought countless cars privately sight unseen. I am relatively experienced but speaking to the seller and judging their character is often as good an indicator as the car itself.

I think that very much depends how discerning the buyer is, and just how reputable the dealer (or independent garage) is!   Both of these things vary massively.   I guess attitude to risk comes into it too.   I agree regarding judgement of character when buying privately, you can get a very good feel for things very quickly.

When I bought mine I told @Aimee Lotus Silverstone that as long as she thinks it's good, I'll take it! That said, I did go up and drive it all the same and it was a fun day out

Having just bought my first Evora without seeing it, for me buying from a reputable dealer became the key thing. I don't think I'm the most discerning of buyers (!), so wanted some reassurance that the dealer wouldn't sell rubbish and there was a warranty for added peace of mind. This was the third Evora I'd seen and driven, the first was from a dealer but not a Lotus dealer and the whole thing (both the car and dealer) didn't feel right enough, the second one was at a Lotus dealer but essentially a private sale and after nearly going for it decided against for various reasons. I also think when you looking at a car you've never driven before its hard (at least it was for me!) to discern all is what it should be, as everything feels so different... dunno, my tuppence worth.... the last three cars I've bought I haven't seen but have all  been from reputable dealers and have turned out great... 😀

My Evora is also the only car I’ve bought without seeing. It was also a private sale from a Forum member here.

As it turned out the right honourable Mr Bibs himself went to collect it and gave it a once over - I remember getting the “Go ahead - it’s F#%cking mint” text from him lol😆

No regrets a couple of years later. Awesome buy.

The Bibs seal of quality - did he offer a no quibble warranty as well?

When you say buying without seeing on private, is that paying full payment and then going to collect?

Can’t believe how many people are “buying blind” due to Covid.  Hope it works out OK.

The last 6 cars I bought, including my Evora 410 Sport were all bought unseen. No test drive. Etc.  Not had a single problem. Always got the very best deal available and have saved thousands. I actually wouldn't know now how to buy a car any other way lol...

Alcohol. Sex. Tobacco. Drugs. Chocolate.  Meh! NOTHING in this world is as addictive as an Evora +0. It's not for babies!

The first guy to ride a bull for fun, was a true hero. The second man to follow him was truly nuts!
