Nathan Pitman 225
Surely this is not the announcement but the announcement of the announcement... otherwise they'd be pimping it on the main Lotus Cars acc too. Exciting as it is, I doubt anything is going to tempt me away from my Exige.

Lotus110Club 4
Yeah, but... its still an Evora! Weren't Caterham meant to be doing a partnership with Alpine a few years ago? Eitherway I'm genuinely more excited about this than I am the Evija.
NedaSay 851
Yup and they used an exige mule to jumpstart that... then again it never went anywhere and Alpine developed the A110
Lotus110Club 4
Thanks for that. I suppose something good came out of it. The irony being that Rudy Thomann (who brought us the 108 and 110) was involved in developing the A110.

At this rate you may have to just buy a Renault instead. I wonder if this is going to be a two way thing with a vehicle or just be a tesla roadster type thing. NedaSay 851
Lotus Engineering is coming back strong, I would say. Considering the strength of the group, I see no real need for a two way deal, however considering that Lotus will need to prove that it is a profitable entity, sharing a platform or providing an architecture to Alpine won't hurt. NedaSay 851
https://media.lotuscars.com/en/news-articles/alpine-and-lotus-announce-technical-collaboration.html... "Alpine and Lotus will also explore the development of a joint services offer combining their engineering expertise. A collaboration to leverage Alpine’s motorsport platform covering Formula One to Formula E and Endurance is also under study." Considering Alpine will compete in 2021 in F1 and WEC... That leaves FE to Lotus... And now, I'm off to bed. Edited January 14 by NedaSay

Popular Post Bibs 11,410
(Paris, France – 14 January 2021) As part of the Alpine Business Unit development, Groupe Renault and Group Lotus have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to study a number of areas of cooperation, including the joint development of an EV sportscar. The Alpine and Lotus teams will conduct a comprehensive feasibility study for the joint engineering, design and development of an EV sportscar by leveraging the resources, expertise and facilities of the respective entities in both France and the UK. Alpine and Lotus will also explore the development of a joint services offer combining their engineering expertise. A collaboration to leverage Alpine’s motorsport platform covering Formula One to Formula E and Endurance is also under study. Laurent Rossi, CEO Alpine, said: “The signing of this MoU with Lotus shows the lean and smart approach we’re implementing as part of the new Alpine brand strategy. Both brands have an amazing legacy and we are most excited to start this work together, from engineering tailored solutions to developing a next-generation EV sports car. This collaboration along with our transformation mark the beginning of a new era in which we’ll be taking the Alpine name and line-up to the future. We’re putting F1 at the heart of our business, leveraging our in-house expertise and best-in-class partners such as Lotus to inject our cars with leading-edge performance, technology and motorisation”. Phil Popham, CEO, Lotus Cars, added: “Today’s announcement is the first step in what is set to be a hugely rewarding collaboration between our iconic brands. We are proud to be working with Groupe Renault in this collaboration – sharing Lotus’ technical expertise and abilities, and leveraging our long track record of successful collaborations. Our companies have much in common – from a pioneering pedigree in light-weighting, to championship-winning sportscars which perform as impressively on the road as they do in the motorsports arena. It is a natural fit in many ways and the co-development of an EV sportscar is hugely exciting for our companies, our fans and customers around the world. The joint-services element of our agreement will additionally make our engineering expertise available to those wishing to engage our innovations.” ENDS 3 Quote 88 Esprit NA, 89 Esprit Turbo SE, Evora, Evora S, Evora IPS, Evora S IPS, Evora S IPS SR, Evora 400, Elise S1, Elise S1 111s, Evora GT410 Sport Evora NA For forum issues, please contact the Moderators. Popular Post DaveC72 786
I'm guessing this was supposed to be a joint launch, but somebody didn't clarify which 0900 (CET or GMT) they were going with. Hence Renault/Alpine went an hour early, or Lotus went an hour late. Sacre Bleu...
