Will I get vilified if I say that the new/old font of the Lotus moniker is growing on me... I still think the roundel should have silver lettering but yeah...

I actually agree. Did not like it at first, but honestly I kind of like it now.

Ref Logo - Didn’t like at first but now prefer......I think they nailed it. Very difficult thing to do but a job well done. It’s almost a mandatory action to have to create a new logo when a company moves into a brand new phase......the traditionalists usually always kick off but change is difficult!
Lotus haven’t rushed this whole change, but they’ve made some excellent decisions along the way and I hope that’s the way they continue to progress. But so much lies on the new Emira.....no pressure!😬🤞

Yup, because that's what the management consultants say you have to do. You know the type, experts at telling others how to run their business, never run one themselves though!

Indeed, lost count of the number of management consultants I knew who left to start a company only to kill it off through ineptitude, usually in under 2 years!

I firmly believe that you notice change (aka the new logo), but then over time it just becomes familiar so you accept it. It's how we are as humans. you adapt. you move on. you survive. It is exactly what lotus is doing, and hopefully why it it will thrive in the future, preferably without wasting its cash on consultants (oh, and bloody CFO's/Financial Controllers!).

Alcohol. Sex. Tobacco. Drugs. Chocolate.  Meh! NOTHING in this world is as addictive as an Evora +0. It's not for babies!

The first guy to ride a bull for fun, was a true hero. The second man to follow him was truly nuts!

Nope. It sounds like a cheap perfume to me. However, it will grow on us all with time.

I actually would have preferred resurrecting something like Eclat or Excel.

4 seaters? Not really appropriate for this car. Esprit would be closer but that's really needed for a supercar IMO.

88 Esprit NA, 89 Esprit Turbo SE, Evora, Evora S, Evora IPS, Evora S IPS, Evora S IPS SR, Evora 400, Elise S1, Elise S1 111s, Evora GT410 Sport

Evora NA

Historically four seaters, but that's a long time ago. So they could have gotten away with it.

There is also the Elite -  used for 2 totally different vehicles.

I appreciate that car makers need to come up with something unique that does not translate into anything offensive or embarrassing, Lotus also has to use names that begin with E but I would have preferred something less feminine and middle-eastern than Emira. I think Aston Martin have done much better with the same difficult brief.

Recent Lotus names - Elise, Evora, Evija, Emira. Exige being the only exception to a very girly list.

Recent Aston Martin names - Vanquish, Vantage, Valhalla, Victor, Valkyrie

Never much liked the name Evora, but yes have gotten used to it over time.

Obvious but didn't see it said: two sides to the coin. Yes, new logo to mark the entry to a  new phase - but also to mark the leaving .............  Don't think I need finish the phrase.

Oldie, waving .......😢

Yes, well done. Coincidentally I was just thinking today that this might turn out to be the ideal time for Lotus to be ending the production of the Elise/Exige/Evora and installing the production lines for Evija and Emira. Not least because of all of the supply chain issues being endured by other manufacturers at the moment. Hopefully things will be back on an even keel next year.

Having seen, sat in and been for a passenger ride in the latest and possibly the most important car for some time; the future is looking good, very good

Cant wait till September when hopefully we are able to drive Emira at the dealerships

Yes, judging by the reaction, Lotus has finally launched a car that appeals to a much wider audience than just us die-hards. That was the target all along, so the future does indeed look bright for Lotus.

In fact we are probably too critical. We are comparing weight, bhp, 0-60mph, top speed etc. with our existing Lotuses. The majority of these Emira customers probably don’t own a Lotus and never seriously considered buying one in the past, so they don’t care about what’s gone before. They just want a useable, great-looking sports car with approx. 400bhp at an attractive price.

I think September might be a bit optimistic for test drives. I'd imagine they'll be early next year.

When do you think we will see the next model announcement, as this could have an impact on what I could buy next. Will certainly have a look at the Emira when it comes to Exeter (if I am still on this planet by then) but unlikely to buy one as things stand. Although there is an attraction to have the last ICE and to keep that for a few years.

We may get the SUV announcement by this year's end. At least that's what MW has been hinting at, it would make sense, the factory is ready, the chassis spec must have been frozen for a while now and when it comes to motor spec, we know they are not going too off script at this point. So with a design language that can do no wrong at the time being and interior tech that has been really well received by the media, potential customers and fan alike, they are in a good place.

Beside we know they have trademarked Elevo, so we may get the first teaser in the early fall. Considering they now have access to what they wanted most: financial resources and a parts bin that seriously elevated their game in addition to enjoying total secrecy with most of the development taking place behind closed doors and private grounds at Hethel, Wellesbourne, Gothenburg, Shanghai and Chengdu ; the lead time between the SUV announcement and the production start may be much shorter than Emira's, they could be good for a late 2022 start.
