Popular Post Weston
Well it's been sometime since i posted anything so thought i'd better do an update on my progress. With plenty of sanding, filling and more sanding and no skin left on my finger tips I was pretty happy to finally get the finishing coat on, after building a make shift spray tent in my work shop.

Popular Post Weston
Thanks guys for the comments. I've been pretty slack on here although I've been quite busy with the restoration. Since last time I posted I've decided to go with air suspension, I know should be keeping it original and everything will be except the suspension, this way i can save the front spoiler from all the steep drive ways and judder bars when I raise the height at the push of a button. Apart from that I've ran new fuel lines, brake lines, did all the wiring and managed to get the car turning over for the first time in probably 25 years. Although I still need to finish off the cooling system before I can actually have it running. I had to do some modifications to the chassis to hold the air struts and modify the boot and engine bay slightly to cater for the chassis mods. Nothing like a bit of fab work and fibre glassing. Engine bay coming together, pretty much all wired up. Turning over but haven't heard her start yet. Setting up for the new air struts, took a bit of time with this to set how high and low it can go. The boot setup, just need to carpet it and I can hook up the compressor and tank. Thanks All the fabrication work finished ready for painting Air struts mounted, tight fit. Hopefully I did my calculations right and she works out ok.

soldave
Looking really impressive, and pleased to see you've gone for the air ride too. Purists may scoff, but I like to see people doing what they like with cars, old or new

It's been a hell of a job putting in the air ride system but It was something I really wanted and it will be worth it in the end. There's always going to be haters, can''t please everyone ha ha. I'm definitely adding my personal touch to this car so there will be more to come once I start doing all the interior etc.

I wouldn't mind a pair of those Paul, Mike Taylor at Lotusbits produces a kit (or the full item) which basically cuts the lower link in half and adds an adjuster, suitable for Elite/Éclat and Excel (in slightly different role I believe): https://lotusbits.blogspot.co.uk/2010/09/lotus-excel-adjustable-rear-top-link.html No affiliation to LB but just thought it might help. 1 Quote Is the price for that bit in Yen or £? Weston
Thanks. I actually fabricated the lower link arms my self. Was cheaper than buying standard ones as my original ones were stuffed.

Weston
So I've finally brought all the material I need to re upholster the interior, I've made a start a on the carpet, it's a timely job trying to make it all fit nice but I'll get there. The radiator is mounted and the cooling system is nearly finished, just trying to fit new hoses in the cabin for the heater hasn't been easy and waiting on a custom stainless overflow tank/ filling point to be finished being fabricated. Most of the wiring is done in the engine bay, I have it turning over but haven't had it fire up yet, having a few wiring issues there. I think one of the carbs needs a recondition also as it's spewing fuel everywhere which ain't ideal. Otherwise it's really taking shape and coming together. Although If I wasn't at sea every other two months working it would be getting done faster.

Popular Post Weston
It's been a long time since i posted in here but thought I'd share he rest of the photos of the build since its finally actually finished. I had the entire interior redone and changed out the front seats for RX7 batmobile seats. Also repainted her in a proper booth as I wasn't happy with the make shift spray tent i made in my garage. I've had a number of teething problems as you do when rebuilding a car almost from scratch but she seems to be running well now. Currently in the middle of upgrading the headlight lift mechanism to electric which i think is a great upgrade since the the lights never wanna stay where you want them to. I custom made front and rear bumpers as I didn't like the original ones, took a bit of work but was worth it.
