Finally - Perfection! They should have called it the Elise Nirvana. Ticks every box. Hmmmm certainly making me think of buying another one. Love the new interior and carry over of the gear change and the new front end. I'm really interested in the new side sills and what they've done there to expand the entry. They've not really explained that very well in the PR.

That gear change should have been on every Lotus built since it was designed. Does anyone else have an open gear change like this?

All we know is that when they stop making this, we will be properly, properly sad.Jeremy Clarkson on the Esprit.

Not at Lotus level as i know.Pagani and Spyker have similar. But Pagani is automatic and Spyker's is not elegant.

Neither of those comes within a bull's roar of the Lotus one.

What you on about? The Spyker one is cool as!

Having a direct connection via rods to the gear mechanism rather than cables is always going to be better I'd have thought.

Do like the new Elise front, not so sure about the back.

They're quoting less than 800kg - assume that's only for the non-supercharged one!? On their website they show the 220 and quote the sub-800kg weight on the same page - tad misleading!

effing lovely though - I've got a red 220 and this one makes mine one look like it's not tried as hard! Always the same though you buy something nice - the buggers release an updated version 30 seconds later :-)

Quoted figures now including "dry weight with options", that is taking a leaf out of Ferrari's playbook and not cool IMHO.

Nice to see Lotus going after the Porsche driver by charging more for less :D

Some impressive weight savings. Great move fitting the new linkage. I really like the way the factory itemise every single weight saving. Very weight obsessed, very Lotus. They have to play to their strengths.

Here are the new 'easier to read' instrument graphics. Closer to the Evora 400 look. Can't say it's an improvement for me.

New front is not bad but a bit ordinary, many cars have a similar look. Prefer the current car's intakes if I'm being honest. But the rear, that's extra-ordinarily good to my eyes.

250 Cup please.

I like it very very much, the new face is more in tune with this day and age, more aggressive and all that grrrrr. The rear of the car is now in line with all the over car of the Lotus range hence cost saving, same about the dash binacle which gets the Evora instruments gauges, the Exige toggles next to it, the new shifter which should feature on all Lotus cars soon, and the carbon bits, oh they are lovely, the engine cover especially.

What I d don't like : still no double din audio+nav, not critical I know and probably due to that now antiquated loom but still ;  the confusing names in the range, Bear with me here for a minute ; Elise Sport, Elise Sport 220, Elise Sprint, Elise Sprint 220, Elise Cup 250!

The Sport and Sprint are not really models, they are definition/trims of refinement, the Sport becoming the new base in the Elise range while the Cup is at the top, but in the Evora and the Exige range the Sport models are the top trims. I'm confused.  Elise Sport (140), Elise Sprint 220 and Elise Cup 250 would have made more sense.

As you know I try to read stuff and make projections as to how Lotus will shape its range in the future and having 3 trim levels or specs makes sense, for a while I thought it was base, sport and Cup, then the Exige Sport 380 came to mess with my head. Now we get Sprint moniker back which is a very nice nod to the past but please Lotus give me something my small mind will comprehend and dealers will be able to explain to prospective customers. In addition to that what is the next Cup 250  going to be like in terms of weights, is there anything left to be removed appart from the seats or the front or/and  rear clams to be made out of carbon.

Overall this is a very nice way to refresh the car one last time before it is replaced in 2020.

I Have to say that I really love this new styling, especially the new front end, never a fan of the previous version, looked a bit too cutesy for me, particularly like the new interior.

I wonder if this will be the last Elise revision before we see an all new Elise in 2020?

Over the last 12 months I've been so close to ordering a Cup 250, really pleased I waited now but I think the pull of this new Elise is going to be too strong to resist :-) look forward to finding out more about the Cup 250 re-jig shortly, I wonder if it will be named a Cup 250 Sprint?

Really love all the weight saving work Lotus are doing at the moment, their current lineup really is superb, my only criticism would be that every few months their seems to be new models which can stop potential customers ever buying as there is always the promise of a new and improved version of the car you have just bought, if you had just taken delivery of a 250 I reckon you'd be pretty annoyed as this new makeover really is a nice step forward, saying that I reckon Lotus will be getting some more money out of me soon :-)

There have been 6 in the last 2 years, based on that we are likely to see at least 12 more.
