I'm guessing some kind of water injection like the M4 GTS uses?

Anyway, great suggestion, I still love the idea of using the ac for performance, Colin Chapman would definitely approve!

Methanol, other things being equal can enable 20-30% power gain (you can do with water as well, it's just a bit less effective). The only concerns are proper installation and tune with adequate failsafes (running out of methanol without change to the AFR and timing would make an engine go pop very quickly). Lots of these used in small displacement high power engines world.

Aircon idea sounds exciting, but I doubt any noticeable impact can be achieved with the small aircon unit on about 11m3 of air that 3.5L engine pumps through at 6,500rpm.

The charge cooling is already solved by Komotec in the Ex460 and by Lotus in the Evora 400. Problem with even higher power figures seems to cylinder cooling. Komotec has a blog arcticle in German on the subject: http://komo-tec.com/Blog/entwicklungsstand-ex500-leistungsphase-fuer-exige-v6/

Having had a similar issue on my old Evora S I'm glad they are being thorough.

translation is not easy, but very interesting article ! Thanks Thomas...  it seems power curve can't be stretched eternally ... EX460 appears to be the right upgrade, with less heat problems than previous power upgrades, but still can cope with stock internals !

So, bringing things a little bit back on topic... not my style, I know, but...

I have just picked up the 400 from a date at Hethel for a couple of items, and spotted a very very tasty looking blue thing in the car park.

It was the Cup 380. And it looks absolutely barmy. How the hell they got that rear wing road legal I do not know. The quality of Lotus ' CF parts is also superb. That car looks ridiculously aggressive.

Despite everything said - anyone want to buy a 700 mile 350 Sport ? :P:P

Yes I have a feeling all good intentions will fly out the window on seeing the car in person. Looks like it has over 500bhp. Also faster than many cars with 500bhp!

Can't wait to see one but fear for what might happen next.

Same here :(

I know my local has one coming in in the next few weeks. In my colour.

I am banning myself from there.

New instrument graphics look considerably worse (in pictures at least), if it gets really bad, keep staring at those!

I have requested that Lotus make the 311 TFT screen, baffled sump and Ohlins TTX options for the car. Also for a picture of the single piece carbon door cards and some more info on that 0.5 second faster laptime.

Will hear back soon hopefully.

Failing that go for a Norbert special, the AIM dash looks amazing.

Very smart move.... especially since one day rather sooner than later they will get into the option list.... but I've read somewhere don't remember where that baffled sump was standard ??? Hopefully not in my dreams....

Baffled sump was standard on previous Exige V6 Cup cars. Hopefully it is also for the 380 too and they forgot to mention it!

I highly doubt the baffled sump is in there. Bear in mind that the fire extinguisher and electrical cut off is a £2500 option, Airbag delete is another £2500 option and although it isn't actually on the price list i would bet that the harness and a frame is another £2500.

If you add up all the option on the price list it totals £97500 and that doesn't include any paint options, exclusive options or the harness and A frame. Seems that it would be very easy to get a £100k exige.

JMG was quoted in the recent past that he was aiming for a £100k Exige. Seems like he's got there already. (BTW, didn't he also say at the time that the Sport 380 was going to be the 'ultimate' Exige incarnation? Oh well...)

Makes the original Cup cars look great value given we had all that stuff in for the price.

Electrical cut offs and fire extinguisher are very cool motorsport features and until now all part of the Cup car look but having used neither of them in 4 years (I'm glad to say!) I can think of better uses for £2500. Airbag delete I really would like because the whole quick release wheel thing has been great. So easy to swap wheels in and out, good security feature too. £2500 sounds like a lot to remove something though, madness if they're paying one guy to fit airbags on the line and then another guy to remove them. Can't they just build it without airbags for free? Harness and A frame are the final part of how those race seats secure you on track. I'd definitely go for those but hopefully that's not another £2500. Should seriously be included at £83k.

I'm sure I read it somewhere but maybe it was a copy and paste from the 360 Cup description..... the Lotus Motorsport part catalog lists one for £ 1'500.....and my wild guess is fitting one or the other is the same job right ? Or engines come read for mounting and than they have to replace the part....Komo-Tec will do it also it's in their catalog.....

I like to repeat myself but Cup cars should have as standard Motorsport parts and as options fancy parts..... otherwise........guess what.... it's another Sport 380.....

But customers I know want what Lotus provides....... Snifffffff

Sorry I forgot to mention. The new steering wheel that comes with the airbag delete is not removable. makes that £2500 even more reasonable doesn't it? oh no wait, I mean it makes it a complete and utter rip off.
