bo90
Can anyone shed any light as to who (LEF/LEW member) bought the Red 1986 Esprit turbo hc from a private seller in Wentworth, Surrey? Tentenths
Oh no... not the the one you'd been after for all those months [We had a quite a long chat over a or two in the Hotel bar last October] Seen any others? James
bo90
Hi james, YES! I am absolutely gutted. I was a week late! I'm so emotional about it that I am prepared to make an outrageous offer to the new owner! Tentenths
To borrow a colleague's favourite phrase for such situations... oh *ollocking *ollocks I won't trot out the usual 'it was meant to be; something else will turn up' line cos I know you won't believe it. But stranger things have happened... Will let you know if I hear/see anything. James
Paul C
I'm so emotional about it that I am prepared to make an outrageous offer to the new owner! The best of luck with that mate If its a good car and the owner has only just bought it, then i fear convincing them that parting with it would be a very hard thing to do. 'Something else will turn up', always does, and your joining a club that myself and many other owners are members of: 'The one that got away club'. There's more than one SE out there i thought was going to be mine...
Bazza 907
I went to look at it a few weeks ago. It may not make you feel any better but IMO there are better HC's out there for the money. It is going to need money spent on it in the near future.. Bazza
bo90
Guys thanks for the support, still peeved off tho! Somehow I doubt that there are many hc's in red with black, half leather interiors out there! SHOULD THE NEW OWNER BE READING THIS AND IS KEEN TO MAKE A QUICK PROFIT THEN PLEASE MESSAGE ME! :crybaby: Bazza, did you get to drive it? bo90
Two and a half years on I eventually see the Turbo HC up for sale on Pistonheads http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/1288064.htm I had spent many months toying in purchasing this car, originally at £10500 but declined and then later at £12500. The car had 19950 miles at the time so the seller, should he sell at this new price would benefit from thousands of free motoring miles! matk
I can't be definitive but to me it just doesn't look as original as it sounds. Were the rear louvres painted body colour as a factory option? Quote Regards Mat
bo90
The original purchaser requested that the louvres be painted the same as the body work when ordering from B&C. i don't think the factory did this. Simon350S
That really is a lot of money. Good on him if he gets it! You still dissapointed you didn't buy it? Your special edition one surely is nicer and more unique, especially with the luggage sets... Quote Chunky Lover
Bazza 907
Bo it needed money spending on it and the servicing had been done by a non lotus specialist. Did you see the garage where it had spent most of its life? It may seem like a lot of money but given (IMHO) G cars are currently undervalued I can understand the asking price. For what it's worth I think yours is worth more than this one Bazza

Simon350S
Mines got a nearly brand new S4 zeus engine and new leather, that not enought to sway you? I do Love your luggage dude... its ACE! Quote Chunky Lover
bo90
I could probably get a zeus engine for it! Quote Mike Kimberly at the launch of the Lotus Evora, "These cars will be for the few who know the difference!"

stv3x
Thinking of buying it are you? I'm tempted Simon, even if the wife isn't. I'm assuming that most replacement parts, including engine, are obsolete as far as Lotus are concerned? Steve
matk
Absolutely not. We're rather lucky in that respect. A surprising amount of parts are still available brand new, and as far as engines go, there are several well respected specialists who can either supply as new/upgraded or refurb your own. We have quite strong support from Brian Angus at Lotus too. All in all I think we very well supported by Lotus considering the age of the cars. There is now a new owner since this car was stored in a small garage Ok, thanks Bo, I thought that the reply about the garage was questioning something. I'm assuming that low mileage examples of the HC are a rarity these days? Wouldn't want to even contemplate this one only to find that better examples appear later albeit infrequently. Bazza 907
The garage was damp, very damp. Shouldn't be a major problem but you just need to be aware - that's all. Also the drivers car seat had a split in it on the seam and needed restitching but that was then.
