Lotus Esprit S1, remove engine

Hallo,

does anybody know if i can remove the engine without removing the gearbox?

If that is the case, is there something special that i have to know?

Yes, you can. If I recall correctly, you have to still disconnect the transaxle from the driveshafts, etc., and slide it back a bit to separate it from the engine before you can lift the engine out. Tim Engel of S1S2S3owners yahoogroup wrote a step-by-step procedure on removing just the engine out the top of the S1/S2. I will look for it and post it here. . . .
