Not sure how this thread got from sport 350 to old money.

Hope the hamster has fun with his new toy. If I were him I think the first thing I did would be a mechanical overhaul and suspension refresh, and not a posh detail.  Perhaps he is just going to look at it.

Will this help???

Looks like the average amount needed to half restore an esprit.

Honestly, I don't care if Mr. Hammond or someone else with "fame" buys an Esprit. To me, one buyer/owner is as good as onyone else.

But great that Mr. Hammond would like to own a V8 Esprit despite having tried so many other newer and faster sportscars. Certainly says something of the merit of the Esprit.

Kind regards,

Jacques.

Hammond is a big 911 fan. It always came up on TG. If he has bought this to drive and own for a period of time, it will be great for the Esprit.

All we know is that when they stop making this, we will be properly, properly sad.Jeremy Clarkson on the Esprit.

Can only imagine the negative press drummed up if he's bought a pup.

The next person to utter that most famous of famous LOTUS acronyms to me is getting laid out...... no 'if's', no 'but's'...... clean out...... mark my words.

I assume he is smart enough to send it to a specialist for a full on overhaul, and not just to clean it up? It would be pretty daft if he were to judge it based on its current state (probably rusted to hell underneath, perished bushes, worn springs and shocks and geo that is entirely out of whack).

It would be fantastic if he were to sign up here on TLF, that would ensure the very best ownership experience. It would also probably give @Sparkysomething to do after he's done playing necromancer with that Highwing!

Max from Lakeside was the mechanic for James May's V8 on the Patagonia special, so I'm sure Hammond will have someone sensible working on his 350.

Actually thinking about it, I have a picture of this 350 from April last year while it was at Lakeside. They asked me not to post it online because it was having so much work done to it. Looked great though.

Maybe the guy did frequent our forums incognito, and made his decision based on real time usage of our machines or in the big scale of things its a drop in the ocean when you're making a few bob working on the telly to get a good one really up together.

Clever chap that Hammond !

Low numbered run esprit,  all he needs now is an Essex !

He has the money and i am pretty  sure he has the storage space,  :)

Good luck to him i say,  he will not have to cut his knuckles like you Barry lol :P

Still has it apparently and looking good - enough to send it back to the factory as well so it says here..........

So now we have Hammond / Metcalfe and Evans had one too - got to be good for the profile of the car.

"It's the Lowtis espree..."

Never heard that one before ;)

Anyway, I am sure it will be fine. I think they could have done the brake calipers far better.

And I am sure, Mr. Hammond will soon crash it and dispose of it, unfortunately. Well, I certainly hope not, but with these Guys, you never know.

Very nice car. Please take good care of it. Good luck!

Kind regards,

jacques
