Chaps,

before I go and get in the, "ahem" Lotus position what's the bestest way to get to the brake light switch Rick noticed they were not working on the way back yesterday.

Just feel your way up the brake pedal until you get to the switch plunger.  Have an assistant check light operation while you fiddle with it.  Should be 2 spade connectors to it; you can verify the circuit by shorting these together.  It's also remotely possible that both bulbs have gone?  Have fun!

Two reasons.

1) It makes it a little bit more comfy.

2) It helps with not pulling the glue apart on the seal while you slither about like a snake caught in a bottle.
