TBD
Fortunately I'm sure Lotus will sell all 60 units before I have a chance to get the needed money together. But, at least on EUR-prices the base cost (151.000 €) is now fully equal to the Porsche GT3 base cost (152.000 €). I'm sure that will keep the discussion lively on Porker biased forums. In any case, JMG is to be commended for upselling Lotus quite efficiently. In comparison to the GTE you really have to love the aero on the 430. They really seem to have done quite some work on this. The GTE is an aerodynamic nightmare (albeit beautiful),. Yes it has guite some downforce too, but very high drag levels, leading to the lowest top speed of any Evora (other than the N/A). 1 1 Quote If you have the choice between a Stairway to Heaven and a Highway to Hell don't forget the Nomex®! Doesn't seem to be slowing the Stratton boys car down too much wearing the GTE bodywork!! It is a shame they have completely eradicated the GT350/GTe from the lotus memory banks, it's only been two years ago! Silly really because everyone knows the cars exist and it's only going to get brought up time and time again as comparison between the two. The GTE'S were a bargain to be fair at 85k, these are going to be 120k when you've spec'd it up... I really do like it, the agrresion the evora should have always had, but looking at the car and spec, I would have personally called it the 'Cup' model rather than the 'GT'. It's the sportiest Evora we've seen so far with all the aero and lightweight gubbins and for the first time ever the ability to spec a harness and harness bar... That's of course if you think they're worth 4k!! Jeezus wept, I'd expect a rear half cage for that, sorry but come on Lotus, 4k is takin the pee!! Me, I'd of left the GT monika for the wide body, GT (grand tourer) theyre going to eventually end up doing!! Lol at Bravo, I bet we end up seeing a win ace bumper on a car before the first official customer car is delivered!!
NedaSay
So @Bibs you had some talk time with JMG you said, I'm sure the GT430 was not the only topic of your conversation... Care to share with us?

Bravo73
You'd better be quick. At least 4 of the UK's allocation of 6 have already been sold (according to t'other thread).
LF1
I suspect the Cup monkier was not used because that will be following along with a Race. There's insulation, carpet and other stuff there just crying to be ripped out for those editions. NedaSay
That is very possible indeed, this car has a lot of creature comfort (adjustable seats and AC) it's part GT part track car, a Cup would probably be all track but I don't think we need to see if for the next two years... However the Race version should come sooner than later this car begs to be put in a race. I really hope somebody at Lotus can plead a case for the company going back to racing with the new owners. Gold FFM Popular Post DaveC72 Posted July 20, 2017 Gold FFM Popular Post Report Share Posted July 20, 2017 Been out for most of the afternoon. Finally seen the price and I can't help feeling that it's exceptional value for money. Out of my price bracket, sadly. The engineering looks top notch and is a nice iteration on the, now 18 month old, 410. The aero without drag seems to be on another level - I started looking at the maths and promptly went boss-eyed. Lotus "magic" indeed. Styling hits the right notes for me at least, and I think the Aero without the wing would look a bit daft imho. They really have wrung every ounce out of the engine and transmission (standing by for Komo-Tec flaming) - at least according to the guru on such things @NedaSay... Attention to detail inside looks spot on. 3-11 pace around the test track is ridiculously impressive. Well played Lotus, well played.
Stirling_Villeneuve
It's a stunner but I'm wondering how much of the styling of this car and the carbon options will be applied to the forthcoming Targa, or perhaps available from the Lotus Exclusive bespoke end of things? All the looks, topless and with daily creature comforts anyone?? 1 Quote Currently having an illicit affair with another marque, be back in the fold one day... NedaSay
Interesting question. I don't know if Lotus will want to sell the new bumpers to current 400 and 410 owners as upgrades but I'm pretty sure as it as been mentioned that Win Ace is probably already working on its own iteration of these parts made out of GRP instead of carbon. Gold FFM Sizona Posted July 20, 2017 Gold FFM Report Share Posted July 20, 2017 I'm really happy to have my GTE and would not sell it. I still think it is best looking Lotus, have to say though this new 430 also looks gorgeous, very purposeful and racy, expect in brighter colours even better. I even like the rear wing! As others have already said. Well done Lotus.

Badly. Nothing to hate here from my point of view, even in that colour! Stunning piece of machinery and just looks fabulous. I'm not a fan of the extra wing - if that could be removed for road use and then put back for track use I think it would be my perfect car. I love the looks. I also love what lotus are doing here. I really am hoping that the intelligent drivers out there will see beyond the hype and actually think about what lotus is doing and what Lotus stands for: Excellent driver feedback - proper manuals with proper steering, well sorted chassis and superb balance from the suspension with mechanical grip a priority No gimmicks - just good, honest engineering gains through the exploitation of years of racing history, pedigree and experience Dynamics and feel priorities over gizmo's and electronics - cars that reward you - the more you develop your skill the more the car opens up to you Reasonable buying and running costs and the ability to actually buy the limited halo models This is a better car than i was hoping for. it really is a piece of work to my eyes and I'm really pleased for Lotus. I just hope that they continue to move on from here but do not forget their loyal fan base by focusing too much on the high end. Bravo lotus. Wonderful. I'm in lust. 4 Quote I came into this world screaming and covered in someone elses blood. I'll probably leave it in the same way.

cbaileyuk
Read the 'exceptional value' comment above. Would someone dress the bones of that comment with a little meat for me? Not 'its cheaper than a GT3 but explain the statement in isolation. I just don't see how this is exceptional value at all. Nice looker as always though. Look at this back to back comparison with the Ferrari F430 when it was launched back in 2004 the specs where: £119,500 launch price in the UK 483 bhp 1517kg curb weight 0-62 in 3.9 seconds 196 mph top speed Makes the GT430 look like a bargain to me: £112,500 launch price in the UK some 13 years later (the RPI adjusted equivalent for the F430 is £172,000) 430 bhp 1258kg curb weight 0-62 in 3.7 seconds 190 mph top speed What is there not too like as I guarantee the GT430 will leave behind the F430 on the track. Well done Lotus! A relative bargain and much more exclusive and usable than any F430. 3 Quote I came into this world screaming and covered in someone elses blood. The Pits
The most obvious question is why wasn't it called an Evora 430 Cup? Everything about it suggests it was done by the same crowd who did the 380 Cup, wheel arch vents, central wiper, f-off carbon rear wing and the rest. My best guess is that they are planning another 4?? Cup, maybe even a 430 Cup so they can't have two many versions of the Cup beginning with a 4. Maybe they'll never do an Evora Cup but I'll wager there will be an Exige 4?? Cup before 2019.
Popular Post The Pits
Haven't finished the press release yet but it looks amazing. Breathtaking. Better integrated than I had imagined. I don't miss canards or the wide body as much as I thought I might. Wing is gloriously OTT but looks effective and authentically motorsport enough to get away with it, just. The whole car is a massive two fingers to Porsche, Chris Harris and the whole Porsche GT scene which I absolutely love. Audacious in the extreme. Shades of the Turbo Esprit going on sale at £21k in 1980, more than the Ferrari 308 at the time. If it can whip the new GT3's fat backside with 70bhp less that would be just a magnificent achievement. That will be very hard to achieve not least because Porsche will make it their business to prevent that, through fair means and foul. In any event it's a massive 'if', the gen 2 GT3 has even got Porsche wondering if they've over done it. Yes for anyone not on their loathsome 'preferred customer' list it will cost a whole lot more than £112k but it looks like the Evora will be gone in 60 seconds too, so they can't use the 'at least it's available' card. For the PR story to have a happy ending the GT430 must beat the gen 2 GT3. Getting close to it would be a sizeable achievement in reality but then the story goes, '2 blokes in a Norfolk shed have a go at the GT3, do alright'. This time Project Eddie the Eagle needs to bring home the gold medal and just shut everyone up. All the wheels seem to be at extra cost, what wheels do you get for the base price? Love so much about this car. Was fearing it would be over £100k. Was steeling myself for £98k basic. £112k will take some adjusting to. Especially when it's done nothing to dent my enthusiasm for the Sport 410. Then again if the numbers of RHD really are that tiny it should hold its value better than a 410... By the time I get my head around it all they'll all be gone. Probably just as well!
