Evora GT430

My initial reaction to the press photos was 'wow'. I'd really like to see one in person but have to accept that this won't happen while there are any cars still available.

Going purely by the press photos supplied I'm starting to think that I prefer the proportions of the Sport 410's longer nose and tail. The side profile is normally one of the 410's best angles but I can't say the same of the GT430's. Decide for yourself.

It could just be a funny angle but the glasshouse looks too big for the rest of the car. It does look great in all the other press shots so might need to give it the benefit of the doubt but I'd really want to see one in person before ordering. Until then, the Long nose Sport 410 LT still works for me.

I like the 430 front and back a little more than the 400/410, but I think 400/410 look better form the side. Picture of mine from a Cars and Coffee this month.

Bhp discussion's been done many times, just because a Lotus isn't making the claimed power on the dyno doesn't mean it's not making the claimed power. There was an issue with sensors when not using 4 wheel rolling roads that is well documented but still the rumours persist along with the equally unlikely story that Porsche understate their power figures. At the end of the day people believe what they want to believe. In my experience the cars perform well relative to their competitors and that this is what matters most.

Would be great to get back to discussing the GT430.

Well said Pits was just thinking the same, never heard 400, 410  owner say they not happy with there power with there Evora it's all getting a bit tedious now, if a owner came along and said he was not happy with the handling, then I would be concerned, your not buying a heavyweight Nissan GTR with with stupid amount of power that you can not use or enjoy, your buying one of the best handling, best looking with more than enough power, was going to say on the market, but probably not because I bet bet they are all sold now.

@Julian73 You're right. Tell us if the factory is agreed :)

Not sure of your meaning?  This has nothing to do with factory approval.  Th factory can handle my warranty claims fro the bits that don't fit or fall off while I can handle the engine and transmission.

The problem is that the 400 is not 400hp (more like 375) and so the 430 won't be 430. Whereas all the current turbo rivals (and NA for the 911) are conservative in their estimates.

On what basis do you state your claim.  No one except racers pull the engine and run on and engine dyno so we all measure Hp and torque at the wheels on rollers loosing about 15% due to drive train loses .. so what all cars loose, in fact the 4wd cars loose even more.

Typical S1 S dynoed at 294 wHp  my car is currently at 363 .. divided by 0.85 gives esitmated 347 bHp and 427 bHp respectively.  The 400's out of factory show early have 400 bHp or 340 wHp on a dyno.

I prefer the look of the 430 actually but then anything with a table sized spoiler and massive splitter is always going to win me over!

It might just be the lens that the side photo was taken with. That image has looked odd to me every time I see it. Maybe taken with a wider angle, which is less flattering? There's no reason why the proportions would be that different.

The front bumper has been reduced by 3cm iirc.

Yes you'd have to hope so. Just one photo. But that's all anyone who wants to order one has to go on.

Nice to see Lotus maximising on the Evora.

I like the new front bumper, not a fan of the spoiler and the rear bumper I am undecided on still.

Interesting to see how this compares to the front end of Evora S1 too - looks to be similar to the nose length of the 430?

Slightly askew the topic: different league (but not really around the twisties?)

https://www.pistonheads.com/news/ph-driven/mclaren-570s-spider-driven/36537

...as tested £204,540 ???

1359kg dry; 1,486kg (DIN, inc. 90 per cent fuel)

Power (hp): 570@7,500rpm

Torque (lb ft): 443@5,000-6,500rpm

0-62mph: 3.2sec

Top speed: 204mph

Now what's REAL value for money, even if the roofless Evora never transpires, hmm?!??!!??

i suspect the Evora would more than keep this lottery-win Motor more than honest...

NB. Moderators please move this to the recent convertible thread if more 'appropriate', thank you!

I'm sure it's mostly the lens used but it's enough to make me want to see one in person before ordering. Might well be one of those total non-issues in real life. Given the only choice offered is to go on those photos, I prefer the proportions of the supremely handsome Sport 410.

Just to be clear:

After "New Forest Sport 410Gate"...If you go and see a GT430 without me, you will be sleeping with one eye open and your mouth firmly shut for the rest of your life... :P

We will re-enact the whole sorry episode, this time with you driving, before the year's out.

I just put that in writing. Can't promise it'll be in a GT430 though, any plans @RJB?

... the important thing is I've moved passed it Jonny...

Back on topic, I really like the side profile and kind of prefer the more bull-nosed lines.  In my eyes it looks more purposeful, almost leashed, if that makes sense?

Love the look and spec of the 430.  As a recent buyer of a 410 do I feel cheated - not a bit.  This is a next step up in terms of performance and - to put it bluntly- it is out of my price range.  I still think that in terms of fun, performance, drama and practicality per £, I have a pretty good deal with the 410.  If I had the cash I would probably try to save a bit more to buy a Macca 570

JMG is doing a cracking job. The 430 is highly desirable and 60 units plus a few for the States adds sufficient sheen to ensure that the price is fair. I like the styling. A 7200 redline with 10 more horses is being saved for the last hurrah. A non-supercharged 285 cup with 1200 kg dry would have been brilliant......but not to be. The 430 is all about aerodynamic performance and won't be significantly faster than a 410 below 85 mph. As is the Lotus way it will be all about cornering and feel. The 1.25.8 lap time is a BIG jump. That 440 sport/cup will need to break into the 24s.
