Easy there Nico, the 350 Exige makes 7,200 already. The 410 motor wouldn't need internals to rev 200rpm more.

I'm really pleased to see the rpm decline reversed though. That 410 just wants to pull to 7500rpm at least! The 6800rpm limit is one of the few things that makes me want to pass on the 380 Cup.

My point exactly, the Evora gets the chargecooler and generates more power than the 350 or the 380 and more torque too, but the 380 has to limit its rev range in order to protect the gearbox. Ok they probably did not touch the internals a tune and intake revision would would allow that the 7200rpm but The 7200 rpm of this car leads me to think that they must have beefed up the gearbox in order to cope with track use, the BG6 upper limit has been 7000rpm for a while only allowing 7200 burps now and then.

So a car that allows a broader rev range is bound to generate more power possibly only 430bhp would still come with more torque generally in square form 430bhp =  430 nm.  Which woud confirm that they beefed up the gearbox - or replaced it - then the 460bhp is not even a limit.

Maybe the limit is to protect the engine since it isn't chargecooled, rather than the gearbox?

Over-cranking the 1320 supercharger is one of the more plausible theories for me.

the Edelbroke supercharger is rated at 7200rpm so the risk of over-cranking is pretty low.

350 and 380 engines use Harrop 1320cc supercharger. Edelbrock 400/410 charger is rated to 7500rpm which gives me hope!

What is under those covers looks like a natural progression to the range, 'Cup' and 'Race'.

If there is any connection to what Stratton has been racing lately could it be super/chargecooled with strengthened internals. B-)

Considering Stratton had GK on hand has a driver, there could have been some contribution from him but I don't think the factory had much of a hand on the car. Strengthened internals would be awesome but the engine is reportedly able to go up to 7500 rpm without any change other than maybe valve springs on the Toyota forums.

The sticky parts of the powertrain package remains the gearbox so I would not be surprised if some of the expensive stuff they changed came from that area of the car.

However considering this car is definitely track ready I would expect Lotus to go back to the motorsport arena ASAP, this car has GT4 written all over. I hope they can get some money to go factory racing or semi works racing platform in place.

I would expect the 7200rpm limit is possibly a result of "we've been running the 400 and 410 for a bit now and they seem fine, another 200rpm might not hurt"

I agree with @The Pits, the engine feels like it wants to rev straight past the current redline. In tour mode I find it relatively easy to bash into it, especially as the 400/410 motor picks up around 5,000-5,500.

I just hope when all is revealed that I don't end up regretting ordering the 380 Cup, roll on tomorrow.

I agree 100% with you. Either I find a good deal with my dealer and move to this Evora, either I will leave my favorite brand. Never been so dissappointed in a car as in the 380 engine limiter. How could they do this??? They just killed the car and let me spent +100.000 euro on a car which is not better as the first Exige V6. Still can't get sleep of this......

Well that's what Lotus told us about 2 Months ago for a special project on this car (that's when I saw and knew about the car) that didn't reached out. By that time they told us it will be a limited number of cars. (because of course we needed to know how many tires to supply). Even if it's D_day I shall not communicate the number they told us right now.

But if they gave you other informations and that it's not limited anymore or just a few first special edition, that's awesome ! B-)
