I see the PH thread has just started. Should be an interesting read after tomorrow's launch....

I'll hopefully be able to beef out the press release with the extra info I learned yesterday too so you'll know more about the car than most :)

Beef it up!!!! BTW... I'm guessing it's not exactly a daily drive, targa, with comfortable seats, air-con, all mod cons and a place for your coffee? ;)

Currently having an illicit affair with another marque, be back in the fold one day... B-)

As noted above, the Lotus sub-forum is generally a lot kinder to the brand. Its the launch editorial coverage that will no doubt generate the usual invective.

interesting that Lotus themselves are using the hashtag #anewlotus

Is this a differentiator.

@Bibs - your update looks like "lotus speak" to me...... in which case can we take some of the hyperbole with a pinch of salt:

Titanium Evora exhaust and carbon fibre already used on 410, magnesium used in the steering wheel already? :) - is this an evolution of a design or are we looking at something completely different.

I'm genuinely trying to guestimate what sort of price bracket this thing is going to be pitched at - and if it weren't for the obvious competition I think this could be serious money (but if Lotus decide to do so they have to be seriously confident that they can attract new customers and not just the likes of us die-hards!)

My words, not Lotus but it had to be approved by them. I did have a much more detailed post I'd have liked to have posted but it gave too much away ahead of tomorrow's press release.

88 Esprit NA, 89 Esprit Turbo SE, Evora, Evora S, Evora IPS, Evora S IPS, Evora S IPS SR, Evora 400, Elise S1, Elise S1 111s, Evora GT410 Sport

Evora NA

Makes everything more the interesting then...... you words hold much more weight than Lotus Marketing Departments!

I suspect like the Cup 380 I will probably not like it from the specs and price, then I'll see one and wonder if there are any relatives I have who could have an unfortunate "accident" in the near future.

TLF were very lucky to see the new car yesterday at Lotus HQ in Hethel.
  • Carbon fibre, magnesium, titanium leading to extreme weight saving.
  • Aerodynamics more effective than ever before on a Lotus.
  • Very high end suspension and brakes equipped as standard.
  • Redline at 7.2k, more power, more torque.

More tomorrow...

Bibs 7200 rpm!!! that's not a typo right! Could that mean that Lotus has opened the engine to upgrade its internals? The 3Eleven was able to reach 460bhp at 7000 rpm...  Is this car going to get more power than that? Lotus must have beefed up the BG6 or did they get a new gearbox? hum I may have to revise my anticipated price range, if they've done that sort of tuning work ... @ 120k it would still be very good value for money.

Oh and that wings looks like the GTE wing but much higher and much bigger, while that front splitter appears to be really really low to the ground... Is that wing road legal? Was the removal of the passenger seat part of the weight saving? How is that thing not a track toy?

I guess JMG wants this car to go head to head with a certain model from Zuffenhausen

It would be, for me it would depend on how usable will it be as a road car, although I'm probably missing the point here!  All good news though, another step closer to the new Esprit?

Easy there Nico, the 350 Exige makes 7,200 already. The 410 motor wouldn't need internals to rev 200rpm more.

I'm really pleased to see the rpm decline reversed though. That 410 just wants to pull to 7500rpm at least! The 6800rpm limit is one of the few things that makes me want to pass on the 380 Cup.

From the TLF FB page... "it'll be coming to the USA in road legal form next year :)"

A Freudian slip... or does this suggest that UK/ European version will NOT be road legal.....
