Freescan Log First Run - Technical Interpretation Please..!

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys ,

Could some one have a look at this please. I finally got myself a cheapo laptop with a serial port. this is the result of the first run warming up from cold.

I also had the following error codes come up:

22

24

34

I'm checking the running out due to the fact that the engine light has come on (then gone off) a few times. Also it has to be running very rish as I am getting just over 200 miles to a tank (previously getting 300+) exhaust tip is also very black!

Any help is very much appreciated.

ok tried to upload the file and it says I dont have enough upload space left..? (how do I sort this please? )

Can you post a .cvs file (I think its that) which is readable in excel - makes it a lot easier to interpret.

I can see roughly the numbers but it's very hard to read.

Your fault codes are :

22 - throttle positioning sensor (guide on LEW about this infact) - activates when the sensor is under voltage by all accounts

24 - Vehicle speed sensor, rear offside wheel iirc - same as an abs sensor but translates to the ECU the speed of the car, looks like this is coming off the TPS / MAP sensor problem

34 - Manifold absolute pressure, can be tied in with the TPS as well.

From the txt file I can see the TPS voltage is 0.47 for 0% which is pretty much spot on, I think the A/F is 13.5:1 (hard to see) thats too rich (mine is typically 14.6:1) - on the file your A/F does return to about 14.6 later on near the end - I wonder if this is tied into the MAT value.

MAP is showing 0.45 which is normal at idle, but your MAT is about 50 degrees which is double what it should be (is your charge cooler working ?) 2.35V for reference - voltage increases = temperature decrease.

Hmm strange, dunno why the codes are flagging - looking at the readings none of the criteria for a fault are satisfied...could be reading the txt file wrong - as I say if it's possible try doing another as a CSV file.

I'd certainly check the MAT out, go for a burn then put your hand on the chargecooler - if it's hot you have a chargecooler prob which isn't a major issue tbh. As for the codes, really unsure whats triggering them as they look within spec !

Perhaps an ECM reset is in order, as Jonathan said your values are within range for the conditions except the MAT. I kept getting MAP and TPS check engine light until I reset the ECM then all clear! Try this first then retry.

This is the 3rd log file I have looked at this morning, must be time of year.

This is a static log file. Good for some things but you cannot find your flagged errors from this file.

1. Reset ECU

2. Go out on the road for 10-20 mins and then record a file as much of the TPS range as possible.

MAT is high but I bet he has just been out in the car and recorded this file when he got back home and the chargecooler heat soaked.

hanks,

I will check the charge cooler. It has an electric pump so will make sure its working. as for the file... It said I wasn't allowed to upload files of this type? so I just changed the extension to txt. if your having difficulty getting it into excel just change the extension back and it should work. I should be able get out in the car either late tonight up tomorrow to try a propper run.

How do i go about resetting the ecu?

Cheers

Doug

Doug,

2 options for ECU hard reset. Pull the fuse, on GT3 it is under right hand wheel arch or pull terminal off the battery for a few seconds.

Please send me the file directly
