V6 to 400

That said, I passed the 400 that was at Silverstone in my NA and have gone past them at Goodwood in my S1 Elise 111s. Hard to compare really when you don't know who's behind the wheel and their approach to track driving at that time.

88 Esprit NA, 89 Esprit Turbo SE, Evora, Evora S, Evora IPS, Evora S IPS, Evora S IPS SR, Evora 400, Elise S1, Elise S1 111s, Evora GT410 Sport

Evora NA

Gashead1105 have you tried getting your kids in the back?

I'm in the same position as you - will only have 1 car - and I hoped that I'd be able to get my smallish 14 year old daughter in the back. I tried a 400 at Bell & Colvill.

Alas, the seats aren't shaped with the 'knees-up' position of the Elite/Eclat - but that aside what was the real killer was the lack of headroom.

I'd strongly advise you to try getting you family in one - before putting to much effort into it. Lets us know how you get on - fingers crossed the car works for you ?

Needs to be 4 seats to be justifiable - an only car basically. And second hand. Ideally I wouldnt be putting in any cash, both my current cars would be sold, so 410s would be out. And also the carbon fibre seats in the 410 are horrible, ridiculously uncomfortable. They are mounted too upright in my opinion. Sorry.

Most of teh 410's seem to be fitted with the reclining seats, as are the 430's

@KAS-118 - my eldest is 6 and has been in the back of a 400 a few times already. I'm happy that they fit, for now anyway, and one can go in the front if my wife isn't coming. If it's a trip for all 4 of us plus dog we would take her car!

I would suggest that a 410 is a better choice for those coming from an Exige.

my experience : I was really in love with the Evora, and especially  with the 410, as it seemed to fulfill the gap between raw Exige and comfy Evora 400... So I (finally) had the opportunity to test the 410 (auto), driving it in the country for about 1,5 hour. The car was rather new (1,500 kms), and I wanted to try the auto version as I'm already with an auto Exige...

my thoughts : the car is very well finished, and the interior is indeed comfy (regular Sparcos on this one) and warm (alcantara with yellow stitching and Yellow parts)... the car ride is a bit firm, but not harsh. the steering is surprisingly sharp, and the gearbox is a bit faster than on my Exige, indeed. engine sound is great, but not greater than my car (KT370 and KT backbox equipped) , and of course the fixed top can't beat the open roadster for that... all in all, a very good car, but not faster nor more expressive than my Exige.  I was pleased by this test drive, but not impressed... then, the same day, I took my Exige on my local roads, wanting to compare when feelings are still present. and then, it was obvious to me ! shorter wheelbase, lighter weight, lower ride, top down, and this sound ... I can't give up all that ! the car body embraces the driver, everything is more focused, the car pivots around its center of gravity ... all my good resolutions (GT car for longer EU travels, more space, etc) were lost  ! sorry, but I won't trade my Exige Roadster for a 400 or a 410 .  If I put too many miles on it (34,000 kms to date), I may change it for a Sport 350 Roadster (hard to find), but I assume I'd rather keep it until the new Elise/Exige will come up, or maybe later ... I'm really in love with my car, and quite oddly, this 410 test has renewed our love story  !

of course, it's only my opinion, and each his own ...

Were you not upgrading the powerplant in your existing car? I assume this is a complete change of plan.

No, I had the kit but moved it on as have permission to do the Caterham academy in a few years time - so not spending dead money modifying the exige.

So yes, it is a change of plan. I'd love an Evora, and reckon a second hand one is just about in reach if I sell both my current cars. One important question, aside from the fit of the family (which I know will be ok for now at least, see other posts) is depreciation. Will a 400 doing 5-6k a year (inc a couple of track days) depreciate less over the next 3 years than the same mileage split between a V6 exige and a Fiesta ST. I think it might, especially if I get the right one. And the costs aren't likely to be any more than the Exige.  It will (in all likelihood) be sold when it's time to go racing (2021 or 22).

@MartynB - my wife is 5 ft nothing but she's always going to sit in the front! I'm not tall either, so hopefully there should be enough room in the back for the kids for the next few years anyway. My son is not yet 4.

As mentioned my Evora 400 was very low in depreciation for the year...basically the SOR cost , but then I did get a cracking deal on the 6 month old car.  Should definitely be less than 2 cars if you buy right and btw the Auto is half the road tax of the manual, if that matters .

The tyres were also like new after 10k miles , so I can see 20k being possible.  Insurance was OK too

So do 410’s get the GT430 seats as an option or as standard in the States ?  Are they an option in the UK and dare I ask the price :sofa:

I am trying to work out where a low mileage 65 plate one, listed at 59k would be in 18 months time - I've been told a relative horror story regarding a main dealer px valuation that has given me pause. There's also one listed on autotrader at the moment at a relatively low price (53k), with a completely gobbing interior (1960s brothel!) which I thought could be interesting if it could be haggled down further and then re-trimmed - no idea of the cost of that though!

Not interested in an auto.

i'm currently driving an Evora 400 while my Exige's engine gets swapped. So if you want to know anything let me know. So far been driving the car for the past 3 days and find it super comfy. It's also pretty quiet so I've noticed I've been speeding a lot more in the car.

I wouldn't trade my exige for the evora though, the evora feels too normal of a car..

That’s the standard red Alcantara interior.

why is it so cheap... is it the prototype one that’s been doing the rounds? No warranty etc.

Trade in values will always be painful.  Just use SOR instead to get best return.
