Evora GT410 Sport launched

Thanks for the review, Bibs. Good to read confirmation that it goes and handles as well as it looks it should. Grey suits the Evora IMO.  But one sentence  stood out for me: "The acceleration is much more linear than the previous Sport 410, the torque curve feels like more of a torque ‘flat line’ as once it’s peaked early on the torque stays there."

Apologies if I've missed something, but are you indicating that the power curve has actually been set differently from the "old" 410 ?  I don't see that highlighted on the Lotus site.  Given the specific GT designation, it would be reasonable to have done so, spreading some torque lower down the RPM range even at a small cost to the max torque produced.  Interesting choice between them, if it's really noticeable.

I wonder if the GT410 also got rid of the exhaust button (like the GT430s did)?

The Youtube video clip sounds to me as if the exhaust was always open, or am I wrong?

Edit: I answered my own question re-reading the review - it does still have it and race mode still opens it!

What is the reason that they got rid of it on the GT430s then? I miss this little button, not to get on the nerves of my neighbours but the sound is just so addictive and 4500rpm+ dangerously fast in every gear besides the 1st.

“The Lotus Evora was the first car in a very ill-fated plan to launch many new Lotus models in one go, in fact was the only one to make production and was met with a slightly lukewarm reception at first.”

What a load of carp. :censored:

All of it is total and utter shite talking.

I came into this world screaming and covered in someone elses blood. I'll probably leave it in the same way.

Can't ride the high horse in here. Bloody wing won't fit through the door. Yes that does look sodding good! And all of its money and more.

Hopefully Andy's anti-new, tight arse car buying policy is currently under review! :D

Quite below the belt this, but you're only really making an anti-Porsche statement when you spending 911 money on something else!

An NA series 1 gets into Team Evora in some style but 'Team two fingers to Stuttgart' takes a bit more commitment! :getmecoat:

Sorry I was just winding Andy up, bit of an in-joke.

Very glad to hear you’re enjoying the GT430 but think the post would be better in the other thread. Happy to move it across if that’s OK with you?

Sorry I have got to but in here as I have currently in the garage a 911, Mclaren, DB11, C7 Z06, BMW Alpina, Porsche Panamera Turbo SE Turismo, and a load of of old sports cars the list too long to bore you with but a lot of Lotus 211 Elan's Esprit's Jag's.

Also a GT430 a purple one and this is the best car of them all. why ? its not the fastest or the most spacious it has rubbish tech we all agree. But it drives like nothing else on the planet its the best drivers car in the world in my opinion.

Its my fourth Evora and they have just got better and better, point to point across country It will stay with the Mclaren and the Z06 despite giving away not far off 300hp it will beat all of the others cars, it looks gorgeous and is far more comfortable to drive than any of the other cars i own it has perfect steering and suspension for road use what its designed for.

I think lotus can stick 2 fingers at stuttgart when its gets a 500hp 2.0 hybrid supercharged and turbo charged Engine and a gearbox to match it that will save another 60KG's and might get called the Esprit :-)  argh if my dream came true. RU listening Lotus ? we dont care what it costs just make it please make it before im too old to drive it.

That's the sort of comparison I like to see, from someone who appreciates the diferences and plus and minus of comparitive marques. Nice comments ( and nice garage).

ps. I'll join the list for that Esprit.

You're a brave man Andy, that looks sodding nice but I bet the cost to change was like a hard slap across the face with a large salmon.

Nice opportunity to buy a new car without the Mrs even noticing though...

Be strong and keep telling yourself that another 130bhp is entirely unnecessary on public roads.

Lovely car for someone though great colour choice. We have a GT430 in Ardent Red joining the TLF GT430 Club shortly. Will be a show stopper.

The colour is perfect, looks great in the flesh @The Pits.  But I would not want the Sparco seats at £3.5k and wanted the ohlins. The resolve is ebbibg though a bright lambo verde 400 @ £2525k cheaper and with only 10 miles is hard to resist......

Ignoring @Barrykearley. He's like John Snow....                     (an Evora virgin and know's nowt!)  ;)

Agreed the Sparcos are really for those with more generous rears, tight arses need to stick with the Lotus carbon race seats! :P

£25k less for a brand spanker 400 though, hard to argue with that. GT410 Sport is super desirable but there are some aspects where the 400 has some advantages, albeit mainly boring practical ones.

But I guess ultimately it's a choice between two very quick, beautiful, inspiring drivers cars. The stuff they have in common far outweighs the differences. And there aren't many here who wouldn't find £25k useful.

(massive reverse psychology exercise going on here )

You need the one that says: "Could have bought a 911. Didn't. Deal with it." ;)

Lol @The Pits.   I have a very generous arse and it fits in the Elise/VX220 seats just fine. In fact I just put a Corbeau LE Pro in the VX220 and that's a great fit too. No chance of me moving around as my arse acts like a suction cup I guess int he seat. Benefit is I feel very well connected to the car :)   However, I am on a Chapman diet and adding lightness to my body....

That £25k saving on a 400 would give me adjustable ohlins, KT 460 upgrade, Cobra big brakes and still give me £10k for improving the driver.  That is a mighty tempting package indeed.

Also, there are a few stock 410sports still knocking around so i'm gonna call those dealers and see what offers there are. They are Porker 911 money indeed. and as you know, a fantastic drivers car. i can live without the new bumpers for a £20k saving and they have the carbon race seats I want as standard....

But having said all that, I am still in love with my NA and it will break my heart to sell her.  The cost to change by the way is not an issue for me as the Evora NA has not lost anything and anything I wanted to buy new would be around £80-£100k anyway.  So that really is not the issue. I've just always been frugal (read tight) when it comes to buying cars as when the kids were born we only had one income and life was tough. These days, I'm 100% debt free, I've got a super well paid job, no kids, no mortgage and lots of spare cash, but the old frugal ways are still there and I hate being in any form of debt.  £100k on a car is 5 times what I paid for my first house!

The Sports Racer interior of your Ardent Red car (and mine!) looks FAR more special than this mate! IMHO of course!

Know the feeling Andy, Exige V6 Cup was (and I'm sure still is) such a great car in every respect. Incredibly cheap to run for the performance on offer, supremely reliable, enthralling to drive each and every time. It was a genunine wrench to part with it. 400 in that spec sounds like a proper GT430 worrier! Some great deals to be had out there currently, that's for sure.
