Gold FFM Barrykearley 6,834 Posted January 16, 2018 Gold FFM Report Share Posted January 16, 2018 so - December was largely spent laying around, fiddling with cars, bit of Christmas shopping and lots of laziness and drinking. the missus joined fat club last jan - and she’s done amazing - lost 3 stone over the year. She’s now being massively controlling and insists I’m fat. So I got on the scales last Wednesday 90.1kg. Hmmmm couldn’t argue the fact. im not allowed to join her fat club session and I wouldn’t want to anyway. She does slimming world. So I’m freeloading off the book she has. You can eat like a pig - but on meat and salad and fat free stuff. I’m missing crisps, chocolate and kebab though. weighed in this morning - 88.0kg. Going the right way at least. I have to be honest I’m weighing Day and night to keep myself away from the chipshop temptation - the local Greggs I’m now fearing will try and kidnap me . lets see what this year brings - how long I’ll stay good who knows. But - and it’s a big but - owning an Esprit means getting too fat just ain’t an option. 1 Quote Only here once
Buddsy 1,609
I been doing a random fasting thing. Week days dont eat anything until 4.00pm. No breakfast no milk in your coffee etc then at 4.00 break your fast with fruit or veg then what the fuck you like until midnight. Cake crisps if you so desire. (funily enough though I get cravings for kale and steak?!) Weekends you eat at anytime although you start to feel you dont need to eat much during the day. Sounds bleak and too hard but its pretty easy actually. People often say if you eat a good breakfast you snack less etc. Well Ive always found when I eat breakfast I end up eating my whole pack lunch by 10.00 and have to go to the shop to buy extra! One thing im sure we are all eating too much food. Much more than we need but when 5 jam donuts cost about 20p sometimes its not easy! buddsy 1 1 Quote "Belief is the enemy of knowing" - Crrow777

No-one is more surprised than me It’s actually addictive. I was motivated a couple of years ago to lose a bit of weight to get down to the min weight for racing. I was 97kg at the time. So cut out fizzy, fruit for breakfast, porridge for lunch and normal dinner. Walked for an hour every day, then when the weight stopped coming off started running 5k 3/4 time a week rather than walking. Added no time to my day as I walk the dog every day now I run instead. Couple of years on and I’m down to 75kg and feeling far better generally for it. Never liked running but being competitive and with modern gadgets you can race yourself every day and it becomes addictive. 3 Quote Lotus Register - https://www.lotusregister.com

I was petrified that I'd clap the pounds on when injury put paid to my Fell Running 'career' but the swimming/cycling combo have kept the pounds off. I'm sure I once read that if you loose weight dieting you have got to keep the weight off for a couple of years or it goes straight back on the minute you look at a pint and a curry. mayevora 1,169
Every morning I get up and think I’ll start the diet today followed by each night I go to bed thinking I’ll start the diet tomorrow. I’ve always been a yo yo dieter. Over the years I’ve gone through periods losing 4 stone, 7 stone and 3 stone to then put it all back on again. No getting away from the fact I like my food. (don’t we all) I feel great when lighter and life is great, more energy, want to do more things ect ect. Reality for me is I start work at 8am and get home at 8.30pm then something to eat and slob in front of TV is the norm. Not a healthy lifestyle. Popular Post Jacques 942
I weigh the same as when I was 18 y.o. 76,5 kg. and 1,88meter. I vary 1 kilo in the Winter, so weighing 77,5kg automatically loosing it again come Spring. I fit the same size clothes and actually still have a single pair of jeans from back then Of course one cannot stay exactly the same all life, being a thin stick being 60 y.o. or more, as when one was 16 y.o. That is completely beside the point. Ageing is natural. But there are many things one can do to stay healthy (not the same as slim) and fit. I have been running over the years, and still do from time to time, but went slowly away from that, as I saw all the damages on my friends who also run. Worn knees, worn hips, smashed soft parts in hips and inside knees (don't know the English Words for these). So I went to a specialist, a surgeon on hips and knees, and she told me, that in her opinion, it's a descease to run so much and often. Max. 5Km. twice a week and ONLY on soft surfaces like in the forest or soft grass. Not on trails, pedestrial lanes, asphalt and what not. It's way too damaging. She pointed out to me, that she had participoated in a science project, which found out that running often, fast and long distances, Wears the Heart too much - unhealthy. She also said that as a surgeon, she see all the damages people do to themselves, every day. No more running. Only from time to time. And get better softer shoes. Point taken. So, I took up swimming, badminton, and pref. cycling Again. Both racing and mtb. MUCH better and much less harmfull to the body. And it's fun too. Regarding food, I've been eating meat since birth til 25 years ago, then became a vegetarian, now 50 y.o. No probs. Have the same amount of energy and don't feel stuffed and the need to lie down and gasp after the breath. Easy peasy, eat, then go bicycle some 40-100 km, depending on time of day etc. about 2- times a week. That's is more than enough to stay fit. I tend to slow it Down a bit in the Winter season, as the body needs to rest more. In my job, I walk a lot and get a bit of exercise too that way. If hips and knees are worn, just walk fast - it gives nearly 80% of ordinary slow runnning. Regarding eating in general, I personally think that most of the socalled diets gives from piss-ant slim 22 y.o. suicidal gym-a-hollics are worth 0 - read ZERO - nill. They don't know a Jack sh.t of what they are talking about, and should be banned from imposing their stupid ideas into the minds of Young women, WHO suck it up as sweets. Next thing is getting the Nutritions you actually need. Not the ones you think you need. Study and you'll see that much of the food we eat today are too processed and depleated from any real value of Nutrition in the first place. So get propper food. It's not about not eating meat, it's about eating good stuff. Meaning nuttritious Things. Not (lots of) beer, fat, suggar and additives as in Chemicals. It's just destroys your liver, and then you'll get fat and ill. Many sorts of cancer come from a dormant potential being surfaced by a dead or semi-functional liver, and in which case the cells cannot renew themselves in the normal way, and therefore change their metabolism to eating sugar - leads to many forms of cancer, as the cells now have a new form. Someone may ask: yeah okay, but my cousin got cancer and we tried all sorts of plant medicine to help the hospital treatment etc. and i didn't go away. My answer is very simple. When you see the cancer, you are already very far into a long process of being ill, and that makes it very very hard to cure, as alternative medicine is a long slow process and should normally be done together with a lifelong healthy lifestyle and ongoing good care to yourself. Simple really. Meanwhile the body does what it's designed to do, try and fight back. That Works for a descease that pass by. In and out again, and the body can relax till' next time it's being attacked. But eating crap every day, and in many ways, shapes and forms, makes a constant bombardment on the body, and slowly the body's mechanisms depleat and you get ill. It usually takes many years of not taking good care of oneself. And that's a real testimony to the fantastic body we have. And the consequences are clear and loud. Look at the Worlds population. Fat, slow, half dead. Like someone on here mentioned, loosing a bit of weight by better eating habits and a Little exercise too. He felt so much more light and capable. Do we remeber how we felt as children or youngsters? That is the feeling. Just because we pass 50 years of age, doesn't mean we are half dead. Exercising like running and other ways alone, does not do the trick. We have to think carefully about what we stuff into our mouth. And get propper sleep. Way too many adults sleep too Little. And the body Works best in healing itself, when you are sound asleep. Some will say: yeah, but I cannot sleep well. My answer is simple: don't Watch all kinds of crappy homepages and telly right before you go to bed. The reason why so many get fat, is for example, that they ingest artificial taste enhancer, monosodiumglutamat. A man made taste enhancer that is a real curse on human kind. It enhances any taste, so you can make a grey dead plant or a rotten old weakened piece of meat taste really great. But it also blocks the food receptors in the stomach from telling the brain, that you have eaten enough, and slowly you overfeed yourself, and get fat, with whatever comes next of "funny" problems. Avoid it like the HM Revenue. It's a real danger. The reason why we cannot digest propperly artificial food is very simple. The body cannot recognise many of these artificially made Chemical connections and they therefore become harmfull. As in magarine over butter. Butter is way better. Just be a Little carefull about the amounts. The more you Cook your food, the less there's left to feed your body, apart from fat, sugar and empty calories or fillers. Dead stuff. I kept two fasting days (Black) per week for many years, of other reasons. Not any more, only from time to time. And I really try not to eat after 8 p.m. as it's very unhealthy for the body as it's trying to make a rythm that suits the sleeping in the night. Another thing is NOT to eat many small meals. As you've eaten a complete meal, the stomach and intestines immediately get on the job and transform it into energy, nutrition etc. If you then, say an hour or two later, eat another meal, you'll mix the now partly digested food with a new meal coming down, and you disturb the digestion. That is btw. why I don't chew chewing gum. It makes a process of acid arising in the stomac, and nothing get's Down there, so the acid does more harm than help. Geneerally speaking, we today are having a too acid state in our body, and should try to neutralise it by having more base (don't know the English term). Lot's of things on the subject. I highly recommend for example Dr. Charlotte Gerson: "Love your liver". A book that should be taught to it's full extent in school to every single individual, as it contains so many practical info on digestion, desceases and correlations between Chemicals in food and people getting fat and Falling ill and much more. She spent a lifetime researching into the matters together with her farther before her. It's not a new religion of course. It's practical knowledge, which one can apply or not, but at least understand. My wife and I spent over 24 years studying the subject of this and Nutrition etc. But don't take my Word for it. Try it out yourself. It's really helpfull and a real eye-opener. With just a Little precaution, moderation and thoughtfullness, it is possible to enjoy much good food and stay healthy and fit (not the same thing), and have plenty of time to enjoy other Things such as Family and Lotus cars. Just my two pence on the matter. Kind regards, jacques 3 Quote Nobody does it better - than Lotus

Jacques 942
Speaking of Wheels, It would probably be a good idea not to do as they do in a farting center - ehrm... fitness Club: spinning on bicycles without extra cooling. So, for my home trainer, it's a apparatus from Tacx I have had for many moons, and that I attatch my racebike to, I place a fan slowly blowing cold air towards me, to cool me Down. If not, it's unnatural, and the body can overheat, which is very dangerous. Remember, spin up and Down slowly, also to get the Waste products out of the muscles. And soin lightly, not heavy gears. That will just destroy your knees. Trust me on that. just my advice. Just don't get a Cold then And take an ordinary towel and place it on the floor udner the bike. It' s well worth it. Kind regards, jacques ps: Barry: it would be a good idea for you to look at what you eat, combined with a Little exercise and drink Water, sleep enough etc. That way you attack the problem from all sides, and you'll feel better, as you can actually eat normal. and feed fresh, not exhausted. And in the beginning it's also loosing liquid (Water) from the body that makes it go fast. Later on, it's more stable fat burning. But cleansing ones liver is a very good idea. Both short term and long term. That is: the get rid of Waste products from the body. Quote Nobody does it better - than Lotus
