Nothing to do with traction control, all to do with low speed gear changes. Maybe it’s my car but at low speeds in town sport is not really a good fit In terms of when and where it changes gear, I live in a fairly hilly area and it often finds itself in the wrong gear and the wrong time. Touring does a much better job about town but then there are stretches of road where you want the faster throttle response. My obersation was just that if you’re in the midst of driving and you fancy changing modes to suit the current environment, reaching across the centre console is not ideal. It’s hardly the end of the world though. :)

@TheKevlarKid I have to add, I am by no means used to this car yet. Only 4 weeks into ownership and I have zero previous experience with automatics or paddle shift... so quite likely I’m just doing it all wrong. :D

I only use auto when the engine is cold. Then I switch to sport and paddles.

I agree with @Nathan Pitman in that in sport the car hangs on to low gears far too long if pootling around, but then that’s not what it’s designed for, you wouldn’t use sport in auto for in town use, but then I don’t use sport auto at all.

Nathan, I suspect you’ll find you preferred settings and will stop changing settings mid drive

i just wish it would stay in manual in touring mode.

anyway we’re well :offtopic: so mods might want to split this thread out.

Blessed with the competence to be a slave to the incapable.

Currently without a Lotus, Evora 400 Hethel Edition in Racing Green with Red leather and 2010 Evora N/A in Laser Blue and 1983 Lotus Excel LC Narrow body in Ice Blue all sadly gone.

I too have an auto 400 and actually find touring mode gets gearchanges wrong more often than I'd say it gets them right 😉 For me, it's touring mode until the car's warmed up then into Sport. And to my surprise, it's left in auto for the majority of the time...

Dear Geely - how about putting in climate control and a decent satnav/stereo/speaker setup in your next £80k car?
