Spec me an Elise Cup 250 or an Elise Cup 260

Recommended Posts

I am looking into possibly buying an Elise Cup car.

The two choices I have are the Cup 250 and the Cup 260.

Although I am wary that Lotus may bring out the ultimate Elise Cup car again and again in the next year or so.

In the meantime I thought I would ask for everyone's opinion on what they would do?

Cup 250 or Cup 260?

And what options would you have/not have?

I am still trying to decide how to spec the cars up for a factory build and would appreciate what you would go for?

Many thanks.

Elise Cup 250, £47,400 including vat, but excluding on the road costs.

Elise Cup 260, £59,500 including vat, but excluding on the road costs.

Cup2602.jpg.3fc3c86712654a9cc7dc5f432e1a0835.jpg

Cup 250 can be bought on the 50:50 0% finance deal, the Cup 260 cannot.

Cup 250

Stick with alcantara pack as it's free.

Add: lightweight brake discs, CF engine cover and titanium exhaust (most cost effective weight reduction)

plus cruise, interior colour pack, carpets and sound insulation

strange how titanium exhaust is £500 more on the 260 Cup

Lotus Silverstone type 250 Cup is by far the best looking Cup and as far as I know it's still for sale.

Does the 260 Cup come with a fixed hard top?

If so I will need a/c.

Purchased mine from Snows in Southampton to the spec I wanted from the factory, the other end of the country for me, but worth it, big discount on the List price.

I’d be all over a silly spec Cup 260 in Motorsport Green but if I was less daft I’d go for a 250 in Renault Liquid Yellow.

I’d go for the carbon options over the Ti pipe and give serious thought to not bothering with aircon. Didn’t have it on my Elise and only missed it once in 20k miles.

How about 260 Cup with:

Carbon fibre hard top (is this fixed permanently?)

Mud flaps

Floor mats

Ti Exhaust

Nothing else!

Colour undecided but would want interior to match.

apart from carpets or sound insulation (may be too loud without one or both), there isn't much else worth having

get the colour you want as that is true personalisation

any one know how many 260 Cups sold thus far?

All Elise/Exige hard tops are ultimately removeable. The CF hard top looks amazing and if you're planning to use it often then ac needs to be reconsidered. I had both hard and soft top on my Elise SR and did use both but always enjoyed the car more with the roof off. In that state ac becomes a waste of time. CF roof is always something you could add at a later date.

I'd go Alcantara over leather especially on a convertible as it's washable and you won't stress if it gets wet occasionally. Alcantara wheel is really nice I'd go for that too. Adds tactility. 2 piece brakes for sure for me. Probably floor mats if you can have them without carpets. I wouldn't bother with carpets because they aren't the nicest and its a Cup so nice to see some aluminium in there. I would have the mats though to protect the aluminium floor from your heels. I added one to my V6 Cup for that reason. Used a rubber mat originally but it kept sliding around on track. I'd look at all of the carbon options on a 250 but might skip the interior bits otherwise the price would make me look again at the Cup 260. Monster Spec 250 is less than £4k away from the Cup 260 which offers very limited production, vented arches and a giant rear wing.

ThePits, I think I sent you a PM back end of last year asking you if you could kindly photoshop some colours on the Cup 260.

Would you be able to do this for me? Thanks.:unworthy:

Every dealer will have a copy of the new paint colour chart, part number LOTDSO5289. They'll also have a Trim Range book, part number LOTDS05290. :)

Metallic Orange looks very similar to Chrome Orange. Burnt Orange is not quite as bright and much more obviously metallic.

I had a go at Signature Orange which looks great on @Vipers Exige Cup 380. It's a real space hopper colour. Very cool. But won't make your decision any easier!

Silver's really hard to do. So many everso slightly different silvers out there. I don't really know where the current Lotus Silver sits on the spectrum, haven't actually seen a car painted in it yet. Here's one possible shade anyway!

How silly a name is Metallic Silver?

Ardent Red (or thereabouts).
