starter motor issue, rapid response needed

Recommended Posts

So went for a country run in my evora n/a 2010, decided to pull over in a lay-by and as I pulled up for some reason I was still in third gear and thinking I was in neutral so the car stalls !!! Ok so after sitting there for a few minutes we decide to head home, went to start the car and nothing, got out and rocked the car nothing so we bump started it and got home fine, from reading it sounds like either the starter motor is stuck, broken or it’s a possible solenoid problem.

so I just re bumped it and left it ticking over whilst hoping to get hold of the rapid response garage in Romford as I can run it down there.

anyone have any contacts for them?

Starter motor failed on my 2011 S and it was the yoke for the electrical contacts.  They can be repaired/refurbished if that's the case - there's a detailed thread on LotusTalk with the parts needed and pics to follow.  Or there are specialist alternator and starter specialists who can fix them rather than having to replace.  They can also get jammed and when I had the RAC out to mine, as that's the most common problem they tried various tricks to free it off first.
