Exhaust Question - Engine & Ancillaries/Gearbox - The Lotus Forums #ForTheOwners Jump to content

Hey all, not massively technical with the exige so please bare with me :)

I am thinking of changing out my exhaust for a SSC http://www.simplysportscars.com/shop/exhaust/10535-lotus-v6-exige-muffler-kit, it looks like it replaces a CAT?

Is there another CAT further up? Not sure if I read correctly there is more than one? If not I guess this would then fail a UK MOT?

Many thanks

The OEM manifolds each have a cat in them. So, if you keep them, you’re fine.

If you also replace the manifolds, you will have to put another cat in downstream. (This is normally between the y-pipe and silencer).

PS That SSC backbox looks like it will be crazy loud. It looks like it is basically a ‘straight through’ pipe with little silencing at all (a la ‘the Plack’).

It looks hilarious. Might get one for a laugh.

It’ll trip the noise meters at Goodwood as soon as you enter West Sussex!

Interesting that in their fitting instructions they suggest putting axle stands under the suspension on the rear wishbones.

Didn’t think that was allowed.
