Non standard coloured calipers - what you got??

Recommended Posts

I'm bored of everyone and their nan having red calipers, so I was wondering what you lot have :)

I'm quite a fan of yellow against dark wheels/dark car, but then I thought if I'm gonna spring £300+ to refurb them why not go something special.

Nissan GTR's have a lovely golden colour, similar to Mercedes ceramic calipers or the older Subaru ones ( they look the same at a glance, but the Subaru is more pale, and the GTR has more pearl/sparkle )

So I'll shut up and wait for someone to post some interesting pics - no wrong answers!

I have yellow calipers with black wheels and black car.

Best combination obviously ;)

Unsure why why it’s put it upside down?!  @Bibs can you help?

That is a damn good looking car.

Black is a winner for me, as long as it's not motorsport black - don't like the gold sparkle.

You get matching stitching too?

Black here. I figured bright red as standard on the Cups wouldn't work with my car's paint colour, plus I like them to be a bit more subtle.

Similarly,my first V6 was yellow and I appreciated the dealership which ordered it as a demo, did so with silver calipers, then standard on the roadster.

What colour is your car? This is where a bit of Photoshop comes in useful.

My car is Yellow with silver calipers. I think it depends if you want them to stand out or blend in.

I don't have one - YET :'( Still saving for a decent deposit

I'd want them to stand out, so if I had a black car I'd go for yellow ( of the OEM colours )

But if I bought a car that didn't have the right colour calipers, I'd refurb them into something even more bonkers such as this :

But then I end up in a whole world of customisation options hahaha was just curious as to what OEM colours there are, it seems just red, yellow, black and silver

I agree it totally depends on the car colour, with yellow’s and other bright colours you don’t need the Caliper to stand out, the exige is loud enough looks wise.

If you get a darker colour, green, black, grey etc then the caliper can liven the car up nicely.

personally love the yellow or orange on a black car and agree with Arun, would opt for a mute colour on a canyon red car for sure.

I don’t like my red calipers either so have also contemplated a re-colour. I also prefer the AP Racing branding to the Lotus if I’m honest.

Whats involved in getting a re-colour?

The Lotus badge is embossed, so you'd have to grind it off to change to AP logo.

Ideally, you need to remove and disassemble each calliper then send them to an expert.   Mine could do with a refurb at some stage, would probably get them done in Liquid Yellow...

Rough price if you remove them and send them is about £300 inc vat with https://www.bcs-automotive.co.uk .  I don't know them to know how good they are, nor have I shopped around to look at prices yet as it's not a priority for me.

That AMG paint looks wicked.

What bugs me about BCS is they paint the hard lines too, which I guess is hard to avoid without disassembly?

These were done by BCS, they were completely stripped, refinished, all hardware replaced with new, hardlines were removed (not painted) and we're returned in a bag, but not replaced.
