 CLUB LOTUS, THE JIM CLARK TRUST AND THE CHIRNSIDE COMMUNIITY 

 PROGRAMME 6-8 APRIL

 

FRIDAY

19.00 ASSEMBLE AT THE JIM CLARK CLOCKTOWER IN CHIRNSIDE

 19.15 EVENING DRIVE TO EYEMOUTH FOR TRADITIONAL LOCAL FISH AND CHIPS

 

SATURDAY

8.00 NEWTOWN STREET DUNSCLOSED TO PUBLIC TO ALLOW LOTUS CARS ONLY TO BORGANISED INTO A DISPLAY TO THE PUBLIC.

 8.00-10.00  LOTUS ROAD CARS ARRIVE TO FORM A DISPLAY ALONG NEWTOWN STREET. SPACE TO BE LIMITED TO 75 CARS;FIRST COMERS GIVEN PRIORITY  

10.00 ALL VEHICLE ENTRY TO NEWTOWN STREET CLOSED OFF, LOTUS OR NOT.

10.30 ASSEMBLE OUTSIDE THE JIM CLARK ROOM IN DUNS (OPEN ALL WEEKEND)

 DISPLAY OF RACING AND ROAD CARS DRIVEN BY JIM OUTSIDE THE ROOM

 

11.00 CEREMONY TO MARK 50 YEARS SINCE JIM’S DEATH AND THE START OF THE BUILD PROGRAMME FOR THE NEW EXTENSION TO THE ROOM.

PIPER IN ATTENDANCE

 12.30 LUNCH BREAK. LOTUS CARS DISPERSE. NEWTOWN STREET OPENED. 

 15.00 SERVICE OF REMEMBRANCE AND WREATH LAYING AT CHIRNSIDE PARISH CHURCH

 

19.3020.00 COMMEMORATIVE DINNER AT CARFRAEMILL HOTEL NEAR LAUDERTHIS WAS THE REGULAR WATERHOLE OF JIM, INNES IRELAND AND OTHER SCOTTISH RACING DRIVERS ON THEIR WAY HOME FROM THEIR RACING EXPLOITS FURTHER AFIELD IN SCOTLAND ON THE LADDER TO INTERNATIONAL FAME ON GRAND PRIX CIRCUITS THROUGHOUT THE WORLD.

 SUNDAY

10.00 ASSEMBLE IN CHIRNSIDE WHERE THE LOCAL COMMUNITY HAVE ORGANISED AN EXHIBITION DISPLAY (OPEN ALL WEEKEND 10.00 – 16.00) OF JIM’S TROPHIES AND MEMORABILIA IN THE VILLAGE HALL. ADMISSION IS FREE BUT DONATIONS ARE WELCOME.

Upgrade today to remove Google ads and support TLF.

I couldn't make Saturday but took a run down on Sunday morning and had a wander about.  Nice little event and well done to all those that worked to pull it together.
