Tyres?

sorry if this has been done to death, but a quick look round and it seems that the Lotus Recommended tyres according to LEW are Dunlop Sport SP01 and Pirelli P6000 which are out of production for 195/60/VR15 and/or 225/60/VR15.

My preference is to have the same pattern & compound for both fronts and backs but the only one I could find in those sizes V-rated is Kumho. (which btw is under 300EUR for 4 tyres).

Anybody know what Lotus are recommending? And anyone running on Kumhos? I have newish Dunlop SP01s on the front but the backs are not quality tyres and needs replacing.

I have Kumho on my rears no problems at all

The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself.

A few years back I had a Ford Probe. When the Bridgestones on the rears wore down I replaced them with Kumhos. I can still remember the world spinning round at Dennis's roundabout in Guildford all these years later. They just didn't grip as well.

That's why I've gone for new Toyo T1-Rs this time round.

I'm hoping to be able to let you know what they're like soon as they get delivered tomorrow.

Any experience w/ the BF Goodrich G-Force Sport or the Yokohama AVS ES100?(you would need to vary the front size for a decent match in VR rating as 195/60 is not avail.). The proper sizes are avail. for the rear on G-cars.

Cheers, Lee

Last I'd heard the correct rear G car tyres size of 235 60 15 were not available - Have you found any - what and where ?

Thanks

Got my Toyos (245 45 16 94W) fitted to the rears today, but at the same time got the front alloys checked and found to be slightly buckled. They were replaced by the front alloys I got from Penelope Pitstop, oops sorry, Pitstop Pete. THe front Goodyears were swapped round, everything was balanced and the alignment was done by Merrow Tyres in Farnham.

Now, I'm bedding the new tyres in, but today I noticed a remarkable difference in the handling of the car. No vibration at all - even on the Blackwater Valley Road (users of this road will know what I mean). The car goes more smoothly round corners. No more having to grip the wheel tightly on cornering. Apparently the tracking was out. I think I last had it done 3 years ago.

The guys at Merrow were excellent, took great care of the car and the set up. They didn't mind that I supplied the tyres.

I wish I'd gone there years ago.

Also a big thanks to Pitstop Pete for his help with the wheels and keeping me legal till I got the new tyres fitted.

I may be poor but I'm happy.
