My dad is excited for me to get it but I do have one issue! I need to pick it up in Silverstone next weekend and I can't get there. There are no trains that go that way and the nearest station is Newport Pagnell and Silverstone can't pick me up that day. Anyone going to be around?

Your dad told me at one of the Bird in Hand meets last year how much he liked the S1 Evoras so I can understand his excitement in you getting an outstanding and well looked after example.

When I picked mine up from Silverstone I took the train from Ipswich to London then changed for Milton Keynes where Aimee was waiting for me at the station. Much easier than trying to go across country:thumbup:

Sadly Paul, She's already said she can't get a lift for me, so that's out. It's a long way for the old man to drive there and back in one day. Gonna try a few other people or I may have to delay it....boooo.

Insurance through AIB sorted, car paid for, Serviced and new tyres, 12 mos MOT passed. Collecting tomorrow! YAY!

Couple of things needed to be done still, Aircon Compressor is broken (£2000 for a new one...anyone know if they can be recon'ed?) and a couple of minor issues such as new gas struts needed on tailgate, refurb rear alloys and headlight laquer, otherwise, for an 8 year old car, she is top notch!

@LazyDonkey Had a compressor failure I do believe. I think it's a RAV4 shared part iirc.

Correct.  Copy and paste from t'other site.  I think Craig Moncrieff managed to source one for a customer the other month..... But there might be an issue with needing a chassis number. As my car was under dealer warranty they eventually (and reluctantly) replaced it with oem.

============

LOTUS EVORA REPLACEMENT AC COMPRESSOR DETAILS,.

Lotus Part Number A132E6349S Toyota/DENSO Part Number 8832042120 UAC Part number UAC CO 10856C

FROM A USA TOYOTA RAV 4 3.5L V6 2006-2012

The non oem one was $160 + p&p + duty, in all £240 (FROM USA EBAY JUNE 2014). The lotus unit is £1500!

I have just bought the same aircon pump from USA total cost including taxes and shipping £219 . Got it fitted and gassed for £100 and working fine , Jason Trevor Nov 2017

If you are buying from a dealer, shouldn't they be fixing the car before you collect it ? (Irrespective of how old it is.)

Or does the purchase price reflect these issues?

Yes Chris, the Purchase price reflects all of this. I bought it at a trade price then paid for certain things to be done.

Totally my choice and I am still quids in against what was wanted retail, especially if I can get the Air con working for a couple of hundred pounds!....I need to before Summer comes. Bloody hot otherwise.

Kimbers,  the part numbers are those that Lazy donkey posted,I put them on selected tech wiki. You can get them off ebay, if you want to go down the reconditioned route the I still have my old one which you can have to save having your car off the road.

I bought tailgate struts from Lotus as they were so cheap at £16 + VAT. When I change mine, I only found one to be faulty but replaced both anyway as I had bought them. Check yours, it's easy to check, take one off at a time (make sure to support the tailgate when removing), the one you can't press it so easily with your hands is the failed unit.

Hi Kimbers again,

Firstly the part number I've just found it C132B0058F and secondly I've found my old struts which I know one is working. PM your address and I'll post both of them to you. You may be able to find 2 working ones out of the 4.

Regards,

David

Thanks Dave I really appreciate your offer. However, at £12 each I may as well buy a couple of new ones and fit them myself.......

Do I have to remove the engine to fit them? :innocent:

Thanks Gav

I have a busy week at work this week and have a mate who used to work in the Lotus paint shop, looking at a few things (Such as Air intake grills etc). Will look at this as well and come back to you if thats ok?

Gareth,

Seeing as Kimbers doesn't need mine then you are more than welcome to have mine? It's nearly always only one that's gone never both. PM your address and I'll post them to you.

Hi Kimbers,

It's a 5 min job but you need to either hold the tailgate or support it. I used one of those telescopic poles and held tailgate in place. Used a small flat headed screwdriver and pulled the clip out and the end just pops off the ball joint. Same at other end. If you are using your other hand to hold the tailgate then it's a bit tricky or ask someone to hold it for you.
