Not only does it have a patina of age, it's also got rosebay willowherb growing in the dash.

and what a lovely thread that is.  I'm  very sorry I don't know Barry - my dad kept chickens in a  1929 roller he'd bought for £100, and my own car  collection is quite similar. I am also interesreed in slime moulds,  lichens and mosses.

Do you think the bonfire in the background comes with the car?

I love the picture of the world championship badge with grass hanging in from the top of the picture. But it's up to its axles in earth so it would have to be dug out! This has got to be beyond saving!

When I was at Lotusbits I told Mike that's I wanted a widebody excel as my next project and he almost bit my arm off!

Save me the steering wheel and gear knob please.

It doesn't feature on dvla's mot check so we're back before 2005

I'd guess at 20 years stood? This might actually be the most neglected elite still in existence. Anyone got a"better"one?

Needs to be basically complete of course.

But the engine will be seized, the gears rusty, the interior knackered, the chassis probably beyond saving, osmosis on the body even as a breaker the time required to strip it would be a hundred hours at least. It's a shame to let it go but some are beyond saving surely.

There will undoubtedly be some salvageable parts on the car but it would be a brave, or mad, attempt at a restoration.

That fact that he seems concerned that he can't find the key made me smile.

A missing key would be the least of my worries if I was bidding on this poor old beast...

Made over £600 - wow!

It wasn't that long ago, £600 would have bought a runner?

If you can be bothered to drag it out of the field it’s worth three times that stripped for parts alone. Be very interesting to see if anyone on here bought it...
