i just got given an old diagnostic oscilloscope tester not unlike the crypton tuner. it hooks up ok th the s2 but what the displays mean.... i am clueless.

i must admit i used one a couple of times in the 80s but i cant remember much about it

any help would be greatly appreciated

or am i better off putting it on ebay and converting to a megajolt system?

The scope should show low and high tension traces, depending on how you've connected it to the engine. The old Crypton could be used to compare kV spikes for the spark plugs which gave some indication of the health of the engine. Dwell angle could also be measured IIRC. So the scope can be used to check your distributor, HT leads and plugs, but not much else without the timing light and exhaust gas analyser which were part of the Crypton kit.

I know a thing or two about diagnostic oscilloscopes (I own a company who make them...) so may be able to help. What make / model have you been given?
