Just done my step son prom evening at Brooksby Hall 

as we lined up to hall entrance there was usual a array of limos and a Lamborghini plus the couple of vintage cars and off tractor (this is rural leics ) 

the gathering of a hundred parents & family greeting their pride  and joy to take the pictures for family album.

as I dropped off I had my young daughter and step son girlfriend (in full party dress) in the back . The amazed looks as I off loaded the party out of the Evora and then the event photographer telling people to move out of way so he can snap pictures was a sight !

i drove away as the crowds all strained the gazes by which time they failed to notice the loud Lambo had arrived 😀

Heading out to Coffee in my 400 I spotted a R8 AUDI coming towards me, I was surprised how far around the drivers head can swivel as I went past. I love my Evora

Sort of related to this thread.

I was out in my Evora GTE on Saturday morning, taking an A to A drive along some favourite local country roads. I had to stop to allow a car in front to turn right into a farm entrance and as I waited a pair of motorcycles pulled up behind me. One was a sports bike, the other one of those Triumph Harley Davidson type things. This particular road is very popular locally with motorbike and car enthusiasts.

After the car had completed the turn, the two motorcycles immediately gave it the beans and overtook me. No problem I thought, they’ll race off into the distance and I can carry on at my own steady but brisk pace. Not so. There was a sequence of first tight and then sweeping bends 1/2 a mile ahead and before I knew it I had caught up with them again and I had to back off and slow down. I am not saying they were trying to be Marc Marquez, but they were using most of the road to try and straighten out the bends, whereas I was just comfortably holding station in the centre of the lane.

To be honest I was really quite surprised at how slow they had to ride to get through the bends. I didn’t want to overtake them back again and make them think I was just some arse trying to race, so I just backed off completely and let them go.

In conclusion, a motorbike is great for going in a straight line, but a Lotus is better for bends.

Just had my lovely Evora delivered back to me by ES Motorsports after they gave it a big pampering session.  As the car was being taken off the trailer I heard a kid from across the road saying "OMG what is that!".  I could see he was interested so I gave him a little nod to say is was cool if he wanted a closer look.  He seemed quite surprised at first, I guess not that many people welcome you to check their car out?

He made his mum cross the main road to get closer and then he approached me and the car to get a proper look.  I had a very quick chat with the kid, he didn't know what it was but it looked "well cool" and then he got ushered off by his mum, as he was walking away his head was fixed on the Evora! 😊

I generally find my Sports Racer quite stealthy, not attracting much attention at all really. But a couple of weeks back I was virtually home from an early morning blat with the MLOC crowd when I pulled up at a junction and could see a family out of the corner of my eye. As I set off the young lad very excitedly shouted 'Lamborghini, Lamborghini!!!' 🥴

Nice story and I'm sure you loved every minute of it.  The Porsche to me is just like an Audi RS 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12 whatever or a BMW M1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12 whatever (we can say what we want about German car manufacturers but they are imaginative with their naming conventions at least) it is just annonymous. Well made. Great. Does the job of getting you from A to B fast etc. But does nothing for your soul.

I'd still have a 911 GT3 (RS or not) in a heart beat, as the motorsport heritage and love that goes into those cars is special), but a bog standard 911 is like a choice between any number of fast, solid, with nice plastic, anodyne German "samey" cars. But I'm the exception as it seems most of the UK population find these types of cars aspirational.

Seems that a large percentage of kids think the Evora is a Lamborghini, it's the first thing I heard when I stepped out of mine having bought it home on the first day of ownership and I've heard it a few times since!

As well as loving my car I do also love my bikes (got two Fireblades - see pics) so can comment on this - the sports bike would have been riding to the Cruiser/Bobber’s speed (which would be particularly slow round corners) but in any case, motorbikes *feel* fast round corners, but ultimately can’t go anything like as quick as a car round them.

Especially on the public road where you don’t often have clean lines of sight. You’ve only got a tyre contact patch the size of a credit card and up to 200bhp to put through it. Any gravel, mud, leaves, grates, oil on the road spell disaster - you can only ride to what you can see and the margins for error are much, much finer.

And on track the amount of rubber a car can put down means lap times will be quicker even in an average sports car than a superbike due to the higher cornering speeds.

Saw a vid on YouTube recently comparing Moto GP vs F1 round Mugello - the bike was quicker down the straight (!) but as soon as the corners started the combo of downforce and rubber means the F1 just streaks off. 

Meanwhile, just so I don’t go completely OT! Was driving past a group of 12 year old kids by the park the other day and one of the girls shouted at me ‘that’s a really nice car!’

i just about managed to shout ‘thanks!’ 

I’ve never had that happen in my 911 :)

When pulling out of the childcare center with my daughter this week, a guy had his wife stop the car on the side of the road and he ran across in front of me with his phone up asking if he could take a photo. He said LOTUS, cool I thought it was a Ferrari. What’s she got, a V12?

No. You are not the only one - I’m with you all the way here. I’ve always thought/described all Audi’s BMW’s Porsche’s as the pinnacle of average-ness.

On a recent midday drive I had TWO separate people lead with the question "What does that retail for?" Exact same wording, which seemed almost scripted. Maybe that's just a standard thing.

The more entertaining of the two was a guy, one of four in a beat up pickup truck, that looked and dressed like a farmhand. Yet he asked me that question at a traffic light, replied with "That is a VERY clean car, dude!", and as they turned left he gave me the "hang loose" hand signal. Totally out of character with his appearance. But you could tell he really appreciated the Lotus! No surprise, everyone does.
