Took the Evora to Cornwall last week.

Don't get that many Lotus cars down here in the South West, hardly ever see another one.     Unlike Porsche, saw 6 in 10 miles on one journey coming back on Monday from Honiton to Exeter, 2 suv's and 4 were some sort of 911s.

In my part world Melton everyone has land rovers biggest dealership in England is in melton. However this afternoon on my run to school saw 4 Boxsters and interestedly 1 female 40-55 , 1 couple little older , 2 males 25-40 so a mix of ages etc

generally all the lotus drivers I have encounter were male over 40 ? Just an observation

however I guess if lotus were expanding their sales/appeal then the demographics of buyers need to change ?

They clearly don’t like Porsches downs there. I can see 6 (ex SUV) on my way to the coffee shop down the street but there are 2 Evora 400 in my street after I convinced my neighbour to get one too!

Goodwood FOS...

I had the same on Friday, supercar west parking, a couple of guys who arrived in an RS4 were straight over asking questions.  Seems they loved the looks but mostly interested to know about 0-60/power/price..   I think I did throw in the word 'handling' for good measure.

so the opposite today, drove to the dr's to get ma pills (that is of no consiquence to the story) litterally 150m straight before turning in silly old pratt walking on side of road looks and shaqkes his head at me, so i look down 33mph 🙄 its just loud and "looks" fast, why is so many pedestrians these days have speed cameras built into their head ?? 😒

Haha. That pedestrian story reminds me of my final days at school. I had passed my test by then and used to drive there in my Hillman Imp and park up by the playing fields. I had fitted a big bore Peco exhaust, which gave it a healthy roar. One day I was running a bit late and was spotted by the groundsman driving a little too fast into the car-park. He promptly reported me to the Headmaster, who called me in for a talking to. Undaunted I skillfully escaped punishment by saying that the loud exhaust pipe made people think I was driving much faster than I really was (actually true). He accepted my defence and let me off.

Hang on a sec. ‘Supercar’ parking??!?

You appear to be parked next to Audi, Merc and Bimmer saloons. Coupes, at an absolute stretch. And maybe a hatchback at the end.

Hmmm, Goodwood aren’t very discerning these days, are they? 🤦‍♂️

I slightly mis-named it - 'performance parking' really, although I was a bit surprised at one or two dubious models dotted about....  The permitted list is here & apparently wasn't strictly enforced, there was an XR3i and I think some lower AMG Mercs:

What is the extra cost to park there? May book next year if it’s not a crazy price?

Nope, check your parking slip, it specifically says supercar!

There were some nice cars in there though. Most were. I think it's worth paying a little for safer parking and easy access to the car as it's basically part of the event.

LOL. Similar thing happened to me (not the bit about the pills!). I was testing out the loud button on a B road that is traditionally full of cyclists in the morning. Being a cyclist myself, I am always cautious on this road. I was going the posted speed limit, in 2nd gear. One of the peloton shouts out "slow down"!

Seriously mate, wasnt anywhere near speeding! 🙄

My car sounds glorious though! 😁

Something like £60 on top I think, but the convenience and feeling part of the event (as @TDM says) and the fact I'm probably not going to go again for a few years made it worthwhile.

That's what got me pee'd off on Friday too.

My purchase of a Supercar parking ticket was cancelled as they had 'oversold' the allocation, then I take a wander through on the day to find loads of spaces, plus about 50% of what was there was hardly a supercar - there were even a couple of vans FPS, .

Then to cap it all, I get back to my hotel and arrive in the car park just as one of those quilted-panel Cactus things pulls up opposite with 4 young lads inside. The driver hops out and comes over towards me, only to exclaim back towards his mates "Ach, it's just a crappy Lotus". I responded with one of my withering 'it's just' looks and commented "Says the guy who's just driven up in a Shitron", :realmad:. He sort of sheepishly half-grinned, then patted the bonnet of his car before walking off. No accounting for taste (or lack of it) I suppose.

You can definitely ignore those type of comments. Being at GFOS it was astounded at the lack of knowledge by the general populace on almost every car but at the Lotus stand people didn't seem to have a clue what was what. Someone even said "I didn't know they still made cars".

What really astounded me was that a lot of these were 'lads' who you would expect to have had some interest in quick cars...

The moral of the story, Lotus, at least for the moment, are for connoisseurs.
