Peoples’ reaction to your Evora

I was very humbled and surprised that people were giving my car some much attention especially as there were a few much more common-or-garden cars about such as 2 x 911 GT3, Cayman S . 😊

There you go, reads much more like the truth now

Hi All. First post on TLF and wanted to share a very positive week that I had during a road trip to Ireland last week in my Launch Edition Evora. Firstly, on the way to the port we stopped o

I parked the Evora up on Sunday for a leg stretch in a German Autobahn Service station for 15 mins. A chap arrived 2 mins after me in his Porsche (And a very nice one Identical to picture) and parked

I went to an open-to-all breakfast meet last Sunday - you know the sort, anything from an Austin 7 to an Aventador is welcome. Just as I parked, a Panamera pulled in opposite and the driver virtu

After visiting my dealer today getting the sub woofer installed that should have been fitted when the car was built.

I had an interesting conversation with the person who is the key sales and importer for Australia, over the future of Lotus and all he would say was the current cars are the last of the analog breed. More volume commercial computerised cars to meet a more mas market are on the way. And that’s all he would say

He also recons the Toyota powered cars are one to keep.

He also said the 410 series are the primary Evora that people are wanting, however if you want rear seats the wheels need to be the cast wheels, not the forged,  to cope with the extra weight and rear shelf with forged wheels are limited to 20kg. Being cautious was the word used.

@au-yt I always thought that the car was designed for 2+2 and that there were no changes beyond removing the velcro seat pads, are you suggesting that the 2+0 has more weight over the rear wheels? :?

The standard Evora 400 forged wheels should accept the higher loads. It can be ordered in Germany this way I think. So I do not know why he suggested to use the casted material?
Maybe Lotus is simply running out of forged wheels stock right now? It is a big cost factor for every manufacturer.
And the long production times at the supplier also limit the factory output and increase stock costs.
Casted wheels are cheaper, much more easy to produce and to deliver more just in time to the factory.

I guess that the problem is that in a 2+2 you can put 100kg on the rear seat,  or the same wheight on the shelf and the 410 wheel are not safe with more than 20kg on the rear

2017 I wanted to get the more lightweight 410 Sport forged wheels for my 4seat Evora S.
Lotus factory did not allow to sell these to me because they fear structural issues of their more lightweight wheels if the car would be fully loaded (passengers and trunk).
It seems Lotus can´t or doesn´t want to cope with very high quality forged material?

So I checked my racing wheel business (run a company for racing parts here in Germany) and made an alternative wheel which works,
which is officially certified for the Evora (by German TÜV, with the demanded dynamic bench testing and driving testing by a third party testing institute)
and accepts the 4 seaters still with a safety margin for some downforce.

Your dealer is incorrect or you misheard. The cast wheel isn't an option on the 410. The standard wheel for a 410 2+2 is the Forged wheel that was previously an option on the 400. The upgradeable option is then the GT430 Forged wheel (albeit with the 235/285 width tyres).

It is the lightweight Forged wheel that is standard on the 410 2+0 which is not certified with the 2+2 variant. This is probably where you or your dealer have got confused.

The Person who gave me this info is the key person in Australia and does regular visits to the factory, as he said if you spec rear seats in the 410 the factory requires that the wheels are changed to the cast wheels as part of the option,

Graeme, Jaws is quite correct. This info was also in the GT430 press release or we were told it at the launch event.

@au-yt 410 sport wheels were the same, for +0 only.

Alcohol. Sex. Tobacco. Drugs. Chocolate.  Meh! NOTHING in this world is as addictive as an Evora +0. It's not for babies!

I suggest that he pays more attention when visiting the factory and/or listens harder then. 👍

Had some friends from around the neighbourhood around for drinks on the weekend, and as we have finished renovations which now includes an “adequate” 18 x 7 meter garage, they were curious to see what’s under the cover.

I didn’t know LOTUS made these, never seen one , gee it’s flash, and look you can see the engine. Best of all was the comment is it electric, pointing to the CTEC charger.

A Lotus is for driving, pork is for breakfast.

I got chased in my 410 Sport around a Tesco car park in Perth by an older lady who pulled up across the car after i had parked. She patiently waited for me to get out. Gave me a huge smile. Then just said "i just had to follow you. Your car is absolutely beautiful. I just wanted you to know".

Absolutely made my day.

Nothing like 'pulling' mate! 😂

Great pic. I assume the ‘thong’ comment is  the Aussie meaning of the word rather than the British one? In my mind I was struggling at first to see the similarity to the Brit meaning - until noticing Adelaide. 😂

This is an Aussie thong, not the other variety

And as an Aussie I only just get the resemblance to the rear shot

“is that a Lotus wow I didn’t know they made a car  that size , I’ve never seen one”
